For the record tho my process is not as structured as it looks. It's all mostly in my mind and I'm still always learning. But if you practice enough, color theory may become second nature.

There are a lot of useful resources online like color palette generators, but learning the basics and the relationship of colors can be fun and rewarding.

And here's a painting process by Nick Cross that opened my eyes to how relative colors are. Mainly: you can achieve a hint/an illusion of green using yellows and oranges.
