On the micro level, Trump's racist tweets attacking Democratic congresswomen were all but ripped directly from Tucker Carlson transcripts, and Fox's favorable response gave him the green light to continue the offensive.
On the macro level, Fox's yearslong spiral of bigoted conspiracy theories, and constant fearmongering about the dangers to the public wrought by Muslims and immigrants, along with its promotion of Trump's birtherism, set the stage for his political rise.
Trump and the network fuel each other's bigotry, while his base come to accept it, then expect it, then demand it. They tell viewers that immigrants are dangerous ingrates whose increased presence in this country poses a danger to both their political power and their very lives.
It’s a short step from there to demanding their removal, citizens or not.
