Back in court. HHJ Goss will continue his summing up & giving directions to the jury in the #CarlBeech trial.

‘In July 2018 Beech was informed he was facing 13 charges of perverting the course of justice. Fails to attend court, having disappeared to Sweden.’

‘In Jan 2018 Beech had received £59,000 as a lump sum from his former employers. Beech purchases property in Sweden.

As Samuel Williams, in July, he purchased a second property in Sweden.’

‘A European Arrest Warrant was issued. Beech books into hotels up and down Sweden under assumed names.

On 1st August Beech was arrested at Gothenburg airport. He was in possession of various aliases at the time of his arrest.’

‘Beech has admitted telling frequent lies. But this does not necessarily mean that he was lying about his childhood abuse.’

‘Beech told of boys being raped by their respective fathers. Beech claimed John's father abused him. Told of stabbing, being tied up, screaming and wailing in pain.

He alleged he was regularly taken out of school. Raped twice by Jimmy Savile, with his head held under water.’

‘Heath, Bramall, Proctor all abused him.

Brittan raped him. He put Beech's head under water. Proctor also did this.

Poppies were pinned to his bare chest annually....’

‘... Beech claims all these allegations are true. Fred is John. Discussed with John about him coming forward. John broke contact with Beech in September 2015.

He has not come forward despite witnessing, according to Beech, child murder.’

‘Beech claims he answered 'no comment' in subsequent interviews on advice.’

The judge observes that Beech has since relied on information he did not mention in those interviews. He has destroyed files and changed his claims.

‘It is for the jury to decide whether or not he should have been open in those interviews and whether the jury thinks he wasn't open at the time because he hadn't thought of explanations which he has since decided upon.’

‘Aubrey is John. Beech claims he misled the police about this to protect John.

Beech claims he has not lied about the allegations.’

‘The prosecution states that Beech is a liar and is manipulative and invents characters to conceal his deceit. He is a fantasist and there is no basis to conclude otherwise. There is no psychiatric disorder to support the suggestion that Beech deceived himself.’

‘The defence cautions about reacting to prejudice. Beech has admitted to lying on occasions and it's perfectly natural to give 'no comment' interviews. There is a lack of detail on a number of the charges.’

‘The jury will now begin their deliberations. We await this afternoon until 4.30 pm. If no verdicts are forthcoming by that time, resumption will be on Monday morning. All verdicts must be unanimous.’
