I know we will forget everything next week, but reminder:
- Trump told 4 Congresswomen of color to go back to their country (3 are born here, all are citizens)
- Republicans like Cheney & McCarthy defended him. Said it wasn't racist, just about ideology.
- Trump doubled down

- Republicans attacked the 4 Congresswomen as anti-American, Communists & anti-Semites
- A Republican Rand Paul blocked the 911 VCF, which Democrat Ilhan Omar, a black Muslim woman and former refugee, co-sponsored
- Republicans still use "globalists"
- Trump loves Kim Jong Un

- Trump lies. He's a liar. He lied about Omar supporting Al Qaeda.
- Trump lies about stopping the "Send her home" chant in North Carolina. He bathed in it for 13 seconds.
- "Go back home" is still....racist.

- Sen Graham said if Somali refugees wore MAGA hats they'd be accepted by Trump & invited to White House. Great! That's racist & fascist.
- Josh Hawley is saying the quiet parts out loud: "It's time [America] ended this cosmopolitan experiment."

- Recent Pew poll: 57% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say that if the United States is too open to people from around the world, “we risk losing our identity as a nation." That's increased by 13 points since last year.

Wonder why?

- This is white nationalism being mainstreamed. It is racist. There are real consequences being faced by communities of color. There are no "both sides." You might not be racist if you voted for Trump but you are now supporting and endorsing a racist President and agenda.

I can't go back to my country because the rent is too damn high in Fremont, California. And as @AnandWrites said last night, we didn't become doctors so our South Asians relatives would kick us out & send us right back. You're stuck with us, America.

UPDATE:

Trump walks back his disavowal of the "send her back" chant he instigated at his rally and instead said he's disappointed in the Squad for their attacks. He also praises the crowd that did the racist chant.

So he's OK with the chant again.

I express my frustration with Democratic leadership and some liberals because I covered the 2016 election. Many of us people of color, in particular, warned to take Trump's agenda literally and seriously. We were told to relax and that he wouldn't be so bad if elected. Well... 1/
Now we see, every day, how corrupt and cruel the Trump Administration is. We were told institutional Republicans would act as a check and mainstream him. Nope. Trump is the figurehead of the party. Trumpism is here to stay. He is their "blunt instrument" for their goals. 2/
If you dont believe me, listen to their own words. Bannon and white evangelical leaders have said Trump is their instrument. McConnell will ride him for his agenda. 90% of the base loves him so Lindsey Graham does a 180 and echoes all Trump's talking points. Trump corrupts all 3/

THREAD: On the 16th anniversay of the war in #Iraq, I want to make today as uncomfortable as possible for people who cheerlead & supported the disastrous War and ignored the rest of us, who protested, marched in the streets & loudly warned of its violent, bloody consequences. 1/
Protests against the Iraq War began in 2002. I took part as a UC Berkeley student. On Feb 15, 2003, there were a mass protest in over 600 cities around the world. Millions came out. We didn’t have “access” or “insider info.” We all new the war was a sin from the start. 2/
Hans Blinx, the UN weapons inspector, said Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, no “mobile laboratories.” There were 700 inspections. 700! He asked/begged Bush not to do a pre-emptive strike and invasion. He was ignored. 3/

Let me quickly explain why the Christchurch mosque shooting affects many of us, not just Muslim communities. If the shooter's manifesto and social media feed are accurate, he was inspired by a right wing ideological infrastructure that thrives, recruits and radicalizes online 1/
He wrote a manifesto, just like Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik. He cites right wing personalities and military battles glorified by white nationalists, such as the Siege of Vienna in 1863 - where Europe staved off Islam apparently. 2/
Like mass murderer Breivik, he wants to punish Muslims and immigrants for allegedly invading his soil, he wants to take revenge. Notice the language of "invasion" - does it sound familiar? It should. It's used against immigrants and Muslims in America - 2018 midterms. 3/

Watching the Epstein story unfold, you’d almost think our entire society is based on knowing enablement of the violent abuse of marginalized people—mostly young, mostly of color, mostly women, mostly poor—by powerful people—mostly older, mostly white, mostly men, mostly rich.
It might almost start to seem that wealth, maleness, whiteness, and age, are instinctively seen as presumed moral value, presumed innocence, presumed ownership—and that poverty, femaleness, color, and youth are seen as presumed moral lack, presumed guilt, presumed property.
It might seem as if acceptance of these assumptions are so instinctive, the existence of a Jeffery Epstein, who procured weaker human beings for consumption by stronger ones, would seem not an aberration but rather an inevitability
