It’s accepted that the job of any elected government is to provide temporal relief, to win elections, make inroads into new vote banks and to stay in power so as to continue the policies and work it set out to do in the first place.
Citizens, pressure groups must demand and leverage the rest. For a government to comply, a movement must be seen. The first step was taken with the consolidation of the Hindu vote.
Civilizational changes don’t take place while we are away at work or whatever we do. It’s something that people make happen 👇🏼

So, wake up every morning, strap yourself with the weapon of your choice and then, fight the battle in your own small way. Inform, educate, spread the word.

The single one, most important revelation of this build up to #Election2019 has been -
how little the well educated & the privileged understand the process of governance in our country
Is it ignorance or something visceral that makes some one say-
~Look at the filth on our streets.
Why doesn’t Modi clean it up?~

After listening to AAP’s Atishi Marlena’s now viral video exhorting people to ‘close their eyes & vote this time even if it’s for a gunda’ because Narendra Modi must be removed at any cost makes one wonder do our ‘esteemed’ journalists, intellectuals, historians,
opposition party politicians who constantly cry that we are living in fascist times & anarchy reigns supreme actually see the irony of this?

Narendra Modi won a thumping mandate in 2014 because of the democratic franchise exercised by the citizenry of India.
So why do these very people who go on & on about our liberties being in danger, our constitution being under threat, our institutions being undermined not respect the first & very fundamental law of democracy - Choice.
Our Choice.

The professional politicians have done an excellent job of splitting up the issues to keep the citizens fighting with each other so we don’t focus on the fact that they are the problem, not us.
The professional wrestling promoters know that good fighting evil and prompting the audience to be involved in the action will keep people engaged. Our career politicians know it, too.

Without a crisis to engage the public, the career politician is less significant.

Let’s add a little context to the discussion of voting security in the US. To do that, I’m going to do something Computer Scientists are bad at - I’m going to talk about history. Specifically, let’s look at the Help America #Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002. 1/
The reason to talk about HAVA is to start recognizing some of the challenges of paper ballot-based voting. HAVA came about largely because paper ballots were proving to be extremely difficult to manage. 2/
For instance, paper ballots are expensive (they’re not printed on standard college-rule paper), and they’re not reusable across elections. You’ve also got to try and guess who is going to show up to the poll, and how many ballots you’ll need in each language. 3/

2) Of those running for city council, 5 believe in climate change, 4 don't. All but 2 candidates GOP. 3/5 climate believers here GOP. #vote
3) Last city council election, only 20% registered Dems voted, because they saw majority of candidates were GOP and they dismissed them.
