Get In The Zone, Refuse To Leave:
A practical guide to Extreme Hyperproductivity x Zone Inhabitation
I’ve been engaged in an experiment in Extreme Hyperproductivity and Zone Inhabitation for a while now. Part 1 ran from Feb 2018 to December 2018, and a refined Part 2 started on January 1st 2019 and is ongoing.
I detailed some of the ideas behind it here
Here’s a graph showing how my experiment in Extreme Hyperproductivity and Zone Inhabitation has affected my Spotify streams
Stage 1: Feb - Dec, Stage 2: Jan - now
To me, Hyperproductivity means being as efficient as possible to create as much as possible. Zone Inhabitation means get into flow state & STAY THERE INDEFINITELY, which l've found to be obtainable by checking in daily.
The combination of the 2 appears to be incredibly powerful
The Zone is where everything FLOWS. Over the years I would find myself there, then I’d do something else for a while, and finding my way back deliberately was near impossible - only chance that lead me back. We want to remove chance from the equation, to be there when we wish
In February 2018, I found myself in the zone, and decided to stay there. The results were immediate. Up til Dec 2018 I made and released 9 albums, 5 EPs, and dozens of mixes and singles. Youtube subs jumped from 100s a month to 1000s. Spotify streams from 1000s a month to 100000s
After the initial first successful experiment in Extreme Hyperproductivity and Zone Inhabitation, my wife and I further refined our approach, systems, targets and processes, and kicked off the second on Jan 1st 2019. We achieved more in the first few months than the previous YEAR
Extreme Hyperproductivity x Zone Inhabitation is a system, not a goal, which is something I got from @ScottAdamsSays
A goal keeps you in a state of constant non-achievement, until you achieve it, and then what?
A system is is constant, making every day a victory.
Preparation: For each new album I create new drum kits, sample banks, effect chains, templates, and so on. This ensures the record has a cohesive sound and vibe, and saves time. All of this can then be refined further and used on future projects
Automation: I have enlisted an army of AI and robots to help me wherever possible, Anything that can be automated, I automate. Anything a robot can do as well as (or better than), I let the robot do it, saving my creative energy for that which ONLY I CAN DO
Batching: I group similar activities together and do them all at once wherever possible. This saves a huge amount of time, and helps with harnessing the ZONE aspect: getting in the minizone of an activity & doing everything in that area is way more effective. Tip from @timferris
Focus: I get all my admin and any annoying stuff out the way, then lazer focus in on the creative. When I do this I am way more efficient than when I still have those things niggling at the back of my mind
Sleep, diet, exercise:
Seep the same amount and at the same time as much as possible
Same applies to food, also go for foods that don't leave you feeling tired/bloated. Removing all carbs/sugar worked for me
Even a small amount of exercise works like an injection OF BIG DRUGS
Always be testing: Constantly be monitoring the results, and paying attention to areas that can be made more efficient. Check in regularly to re-tool and re-calibrate where required
Always be learning: The greatest minds alive can all be accessed via Twitter., podcasts and books. The greatest minds in HISTORY can all live in your kindle. Assemble a bespoke army of shoulder angels that will be there whenever you need them.
Always be teaching: Find ways to pass on to others that which you have learned. If you can't fully externalize your knowledge you haven't fully integrated it yet
When you’re in the zone:

Keep moving, like a shark.
Be present.
Don’t overthink - synchronicities are your sign posts.
Pay attention.
The more you notice, the clearer the path will be.

Protect your energy:

Energy may never die, but your capacity to wield it is limited.
Don’t allow bad energy/useless negativity into your zone. Ie:

People with limiting beliefs

Curate feeds and timelines that inspire, educate and energize you
How to stay in the zone?

STAY IN THE ZONE (* @jockowillink voice)

Do something every day, no matter how small. Keep the streak going
Like @jaltucher ’s Idea Muscle theory, the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets... and if you don’t, it atrophies.

We have barely scratched the surface of human potential

Hyperproductivity x Zone Inhabitation might be a way of scratching more
My latest album, HOW TO GET RICH, with @naval is out now on all platforms. It will help you achieve your potential.
