I’ve been engaged in an experiment in extreme hyperoroductivity all year

The idea, simply, was to get in the zone

Then refuse to leave

Practically, Get In The Zone, Refuse To Leave, means entering a state of flow, then maintaining activities that keep that state going

In my case making music almost every day at a very high level, very fast and barely consciously, not pausing to question my decisions

In my mind I liken creating, while in this zone state, to when you get the boost in a racing game and you can pretty much blast through the course at insane speed, so long as you don’t think too hard

On the rare occasions where much thought might be required as part of the creative process, I’ve noticed that synchronicities tend to pop up, and act as sign posts

So if one pays attention to those signposts, one can continue without slowing down

During this experiment in hyperproductivity that kicked off in January, I’ve so far released 11 albums, 7 of which are full vocal productions

Each one better in quality, and better received than the previous

Today we released the @naval album

I returned to work on the following release this afternoon, and felt a distinct change. A level up

More energy

More clarity

I randomly hit a few pads on my drum machine, and INSTANTLY had a brilliant, fresh sounding, near complete new song

I’d almost forgotten I was engaged in this hyperproductivity experiment, it had become so normal to me.

But I remembered today, because the level up feeling, and it’s results were both so striking

So I looked at my dates

Today was day 200

200 days in the zone

I like it here

I refuse to leave
