The "if it's all girls, it's bad" hot takes have begun. I don't want to spend the afternoon arguing on Twitter, so: if you generalize my writing as trash without reading it first, I'm just going to block you. I'm sorry. Please try to consider that writers have feelings, too.

This is not "love me or get the fuck out." I am sure that someone will write an honest negative review, because literally nothing, ever, has been universally beloved. Not even adorable fuzzy kittens are above critique.

But if your whole supporting argument is "all three leads are women, so this is going to be shitty," well. I'm a woman. I don't believe that the presence of women makes a thing bad.

All-male comic teams and events still happen all the damn time, and we don't automatically dismiss them. We don't tout them either, because they're "normal." Your mom doesn't make a big deal about mac and cheese, but lobster mac and cheese gets fanfare, because it's UNUSUAL.

It's not necessarily better--I know people who don't like lobster--but you should try it anyway, because it's new and different and maybe it's your favorite.

The presence of women is not "identity politics." There are women everywhere on the political spectrum. I may not always understand their choices, but they exist.

So please be cool, and don't get so wrapped up in wanting to yell at a big company that you yell at the individual humans who just want to make comics and make the world more awesome.
