Mueller concludes his opening remarks: "Over the course of my career, I’ve seen a number of challenges to our democracy. The Russian government’s effort to interfere in our election is among the most serious. As I said on May 29, this deserves the attention of every American."
Nadler kicked off the hearing by having Mueller rebut Trump's assertions that he was cleared by the report, and confirm language in the report that they found Trump committed acts "capable" of influencing the probe
Ratcliffe asks Mueller what DOJ policy sets out the legal standard that a person is not exonerated if their innocence is not conclusively determined, and if he can point to another case where DOJ made that determination. Mueller says he can't, but: "This is a unique situation"
An hour in, what we're largely seeing is Mueller giving short answers to yes/no questions that refer to what's in the report with no elaboration, and declining to address Qs that go beyond it (aka when Chabot asked about the Steele dossier) – which is what he said he would do

In the fight over unsealing Mueller grand jury materials, there's been a lot of references to McKeever, a recent DC Circuit opinion that took a narrow approach to the exceptions to grand jury secrecy. Today, a judge issued an opinion showing how McKeever can work against the govt

Most info about the case is redacted, but it involves a criminal investigation where the target is also involved in a civil case. The grand jury issued a subpoena for sealed filings in the civil case
In the civil case, there's a protective order that requires the plaintiffs to notify the target if any info is disclosed. But prosecutors don't want the target to know about the grand jury subpoena, and asked the court for an order barring the target from being notified

#Mueller failed to identify the grand jury info in the #MuellerReport. Barr noted that “it immediately meant that you know it was going to be a period of weeks before we could get the report out.”
2) Who actually wrote Volume I and Volume II of the #MuellerReport?

At this point, it isn’t known with certainty if #Mueller had any hand in writing the report directly, or if he simply served in an oversight capacity.

The critique of #Mueller's overall approach to the Special Counsel investigation that has emerged today is that he did not -- at the outset -- inform the public that he would never go down the road of determining whether or not Trump obstructed justice. 1/
Doing so would have set the public's expectations accordingly. We'd have spent the last two years waiting to see whether he prosecuted Russian govt actors for interfering in the election; and he found Trump campaign helped Russia in those efforts. 2/
But on obstruction we would have known that he was merely collecting and sifting through evidence; and that -- per DOJ policy -- it would've been up to "a process other than the criminal justice system" to weigh that evidence and decide whether to act against the president 3/

According to Baker, who is under investigation for possibly leaking classified information to the media, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was involved in the discussions, as was reported prior to the release of the transcripts last week by Doug Collins (R-GA4).

I woke up at 2am last night and rolled over to see the news about Thousand Oaks, a town that’s right next to the one where my family lives.

I thought “should I text them? there’s no way my sister would be at this bar on a Wednesday.” So I went back to sleep.
She was. She was on the fucking dance floor when the place was being shot up.

She was able to escape out of the kitchen, but a handful of her friends weren’t as lucky.
It was a college night thing that she goes to every Wednesday.

I have two sisters, and one is now part of the synagogue that was attacked and the other was just fucking shot at in what she thought was a safe space in one of the safest cities in America.
