It's sad how Dems try to outdo right wingers re who is more "patriotic." e.g. making care for the well-being of 9/11 first responders (fellow humans) into "patriotism." Dems are so incoherent. Trying to show their compassion by using inherently violent terms designed to exclude.
i just did a quote-checking call with a mag doing a story on "ancient" human migrations. Indigenous ppl have (conservatively) 15,000 years on these lands (750 gens). these nation states & forebears have 350 (17.5 gens). yet legislators all conflate nation states with the land...
they think in terms of "citizens" instead of humans. Dems talk the inclusion game & paint Right wingers as uniquely exclusionary. But the Dems too use violent, exclusionary concepts built on Indigenous genocide & designed to keep Black ppl enslaved. So incoherent.
i know some Indigenous ppl won't like me implying that settler origin stories (human migrations research) having any truth, i.e. 15K yrs v. we have always been here. I deal with this seeming contradiction here. It's not a contradiction. councilforresponsiblegenetics.org/GeneWatch/Gene…
my point: nationalistic language perpetuates violence. conflating care for humans with patriotism, conflating the land with the state, and humanity with relations we need to care about leads to violence against humans & Earth. Indigenous elimination is integral to that.
