A huge lesson I’ve learned in business and community building is to always ask, “what is a more active approach I can take to achieving this goal”. 1/
For example:

Passive community management: ask a question and wait for responses

Active community management: ask a question then privately message 10 people asking them to answer it 2/
Passive marketing: send a mass email to a list

Active marketing: personalize 50 emails to a highly targeted group 3/
Passive product management: get feedback from customers and just start building the fix

Active product management: further investigate the feedback with interviews and user testing to make sure you get it right 4/
The active approach is always more work and almost always takes more time.

But when you see a business succeeding, and growing, and you wonder what they’re doing that you’re not... it’s this.

They’re going that extra mile to make sure they get the results they seek. /5
“The hustle” isn’t about working more hours.

It’s about not being passive and waiting for the results.

It’s about taking an active approach to ensure you get results. 6/
In the early days of a company or a community, organic growth is a myth. Or it’s just luck.

The ones who are growing are usually fighting for every inch.

You just wouldn’t know it because we all want growth to look organic, like an unstoppable movement. 7/
99% of the people in your field will take a passive approach.

Always asking “what is a more active approach I can take to achieving this goal” will set you apart from the rest.
