After he steps down at Chief White House Correspondent, Peter Baker will be well positioned to take over as the Chief Theater Critic for the New York Times. He's already practicing his craft. /1

Fans of false equivalency everywhere will be savoring this sentence: "The Republicans seemed not at all concerned by any of the president’s actions, and the Democrats were not at all concerned by any of the prosecutor’s actions." /2
Republicans not being at all concerned that the president obstructed justice, turned a blind eye to, and even encouraged, Russian meddling in the election, that many of his top officials (and he himself) lied=/3
Democrats "not being concerned" about a laughably by-the-book Special Counsel, who followed the OLC guidelines to a T, bent over backwards to accommodate Trump, and who, although he uncovered a blockbuster fact pattern, was tremendously cautious in his conclusions. /4
Although this sentence doesn't quite make the false equivalency hall of fame, it comes pretty darned close: "For every time a Democrat declared that `no one is above the law,' including a president, a Republican pontificated about the `presumption of innocence.'"/5
The reason the Democrats said "no one is above the law" is because Muller was of the view that Trump _couldn't_ be indicted and because Trump has explicitly said that the presidency allows him to do whatever he wants./6
Given that Trump is being treated differently from every other American citizen solely by virtue of his office--anybody else would have been indicted--the Republicans claims about "presumption of innocence" are farcical./7
And by the way, these two sentences comprised an entire paragraph, making it a false equivalency paragraph for the ages. /8
