Still the big question of where the federal government plans to get its lethal injection drugs. BOP has not wanted to release any of this information. @mvtopic and I currently have a FOIA lawsuit on this issue.

Also unsaid in the press release is what kind of pentobarbital they plan on using. Manufactured pentobarbital is almost impossible for executioners to get. Compounded pentobarbital is easier to get, but raises serious concerns about its quality.
DOJ cites Missouri, Texas, and Georgia's lethal injection protocols as ones they hope to emulate. Worth pointing out that each of the three states has had serious issues with their lethal injection drugs. 
For example: In 2015, Georgia had to call off an execution at the last minute after an executioner noticed the syringe looked like this:
Missouri used a compounding pharmacy that was not licensed in the state and had committed hundreds of pharmaceutical violations. buzzfeednews.com/article/chrism…
After Missouri stopped using that supplier, the state then turned to another pharmacy found to have poor practices that could harm patients. buzzfeednews.com/article/chrism…

Anyway this FOIA lawsuit will take a long time so if you know anything about what the government is doing, my DMs are open and would love to talk over Signal.
Oh, and the last time the federal government carried out lethal injections, they were using a doctor who had >20 malpractice suits, was barred from practicing at two hospitals, and had been publicly reprimanded by regulators.

@jeremykohler DOJ has filed the new addendum to their lethal injection protocol in federal court. Not much information here, and no mention on if the pentobarbital is compounded or manufactured. documentcloud.org/documents/6214…
