So, in a lot of conversations I have about immigration, people will say, “I’m not against immigration. I’m against illegal immigration.” A lot of these folks assume this is the position of the Trump administration. It isn’t. 1/7

I’ve been accused of equivocating between legal and illegal immigration. I actually try to be quite careful about that. In the case of the Trump administration, however, they do in fact want to scale back all forms of immigration, except perhaps merit-based immigration. 6/7
I’m happy to discuss whether that’s the best course of action. But I think it’s important to realize the Trump administration wants to cut both legal and illegal immigration. A meaningful, productive discussion of the immigration issue has to begin with the facts. 7/7
