@ooblets All you had to do was say "we wanted more money" & be upfront and honest so there was no chance for this message to be misconstrued. You knew gamers were going to be upset as well as loyal fans, journalists & industry figures.

And before you ask "why the hate", here's why:
@ooblets 1. Epic more or less abandoned PC gaming and blamed that on piracy: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi…
2. Epic had the advantage of hindsight (14 years) yet the store to this day doesn't support the most basic of features like a shopping cart meaning your account...
@ooblets can be locked for making too many purchases (see here: )
3. EGS by far has the worst customer support and has breached privacy laws as well as given out customer data to random strangers online ( techspot.com/news/80197-epi… )
@ooblets 4. Lack of transparency around last-minute exclusives and not allowing a lot of devs to honour their original promise of Steam/drm-free keys as Epic deals solely in exclusives for now (MechWarrior 5 for instance can't give Steam keys as part of the Epic deal)
@ooblets 5. Reduced competition and one place to buy Epic games most of the time means less chance of getting a good deal for the consumer: …mmtgamechangerdoc.files.wordpress.com/2019/02/monopo… (the only EGS game to-date to be cheaper compared to Steam and standard retail/pc price is Metro: Exodus ironically enough).
@ooblets 6. The company said it wouldn't do a repeat of the Metro: Exodus incident to only immediately contradict their statement made at GDC, grab Anno 1800 and then poach a kickstarter game that received 6 million from backers when the requirement was set at a measly 2 million...
@ooblets (thanks to the Epic deal these people are no longer getting their slacker backer rewards, deluxe edition content, season pass - unless they buy a retail copy, and early access to the demo): gameslaught.com/2019/07/shenmu…
7. Not consulting with devs prior to discounting and devaluing...
@ooblets their games on the Epic Mega Sale: gamasutra.com/view/news/3428…
8. Epic looking through Steam data & only responding/admitting this after it was discovered:
pcgamer.com/au/valve-doesn…
9. Hypocrisy with Epic's pro-dev attitude not being reflected with one of their biggest successes...
@ooblets Link to the relevant article: polygon.com/2019/4/23/1850… (employees were made to work 70-100 hour works with a lot of the overtime seen as voluntary work... not to mention contractors are disturbingly referred to by Epic supervisors as "bodies")
@ooblets 10. Tim Sweeney continues to frequently refer to Steam's 30% cut as a tax & Epic's as a 12% revenue split which is being disingenuous at best & manipulative at worst
11. Epic's "no porn" or "no crap games" policy. This is incredibly subjective & sadly a lot of indies have...
@ooblets and would be refused onto the store as of right now ( pcgamer.com/the-epic-store… )
12. Tim Sweeney offering to stop exclusives if Steam meets his cut - whatever intentions he may have had, it looks bad.
13. Tim Sweeney's stance on Linux:
@ooblets 14. Rocket League devs being bought by Epic and Anti Easy Cheat mysteriously dropping Linux support as being a priority after also being acquired prior to this: (this was also confirmed by Garry Newman from Valve: reddit.com/r/linux_gaming… )
@ooblets 15. Devs not being in the know about exclusivity deals done by the publisher behind their back and having to deal with the fallout later (4A Games with Metro: Exodus and to some degree Obsidian Entertainment with The Outer Worlds).
@ooblets 16. Epic not paying competitive players from Fortnite ( np.reddit.com/r/FortniteComp…)
17. Games disappearing from a user's library at any given time (this is still reported as happening as of today)
18. Epic missing its own roadmap 3 times now (July features were pushed back again)
@ooblets 19. Epic pushing payment fees from multiple payment options on the consumer (as the 12% cut doesn't cover this)
20. Terrible region pricing & many regions unsupported - so people won't be able to buy your game legitimately... People in china can't even access EGS as it's blocked!
