Does anyone in their right mind think that these "tools" developed by state authorities in conjunction with tech companies are going to be used solely to "detect mass shooters"? Everybody else can go on their merry way? (Also, "pre-crime" used to be a science fiction concept)
Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA), a former NSA contractor, today called for "predictive analysis" based on mass aggregation of social media data. Sounds totally fool-proof and not at all ominous, or prone to abuse
Every "terrorist attack" comes with a built-in justification for the expansion of state power, usually in tandem with "corporate partners," to more aggressively surveil the citizenry
