1/ It is vitally important that we examine and attempt to understand what motivated the Dayton shooter to go on a murderous rampage. It is also vitally important that we examine and attempt to understand what motivated the El Paso shooter to go on a murderous rampage.
2/ The apparent hatred of immigrants that fueled the El Paso shooter is not in any way offset by whatever motivated the Dayton shooter. So this game of pretending possible liberal leanings of the Dayton killer would cancel out anti-immigrant, Trump-inspired motivations...
3/ ...of the El Paso killer is a fine piece of anti-intellectual bullshittery. You can scream that the Dayton shooter might have liked Elizabeth Warren - and if you do, please direct me to the Warren rhetoric that dehumanizes any group of people or paints any group of people...
4/ ...as an existential threat - but even if that connection is accurate, and even if that connection was relevant (which it isn't), it doesn't make what happened in El Paso any less terrifying or any less worthy of our utmost concern.
5/ Of course the perpetually aggrieved white people who are peddling this "HE WAS A LIB!" nonsense view common sense as an enemy of the state, so me presenting this argument is about as useful as fighting a wildfire with an eye dropper. But hey, we do what we must, right? END
