TODAY I’m doing a shoutout to MEN everywhere who’re going through one form of DOMESTIC ABUSE or another

1/. Heaven knows your plight has been overlooked. And your abusers hiding & thriving under the cover meant for NORMAL PEOPLE. #Thread

2/ On the fight against domestic abuse of women by men, we've all been somewhat united, but we've failed to notice the equally devastating VERBAL ABUSE some men suffer in the hands of their wives. And men being men find it difficult to tell what they go through for fear of scorn.

3/ Who doesn't know the power of the human tongue? But it only takes being in the shoes of an unlucky husband whose wife has turned into a VERBAL PUNCHING BAG to realize the length, width and breadth of bitter/malicious words. And yet men endure and die in silence...being men.

4/ Men have been left to manage this toxic situation without of course ever raising a hand against their abusers. And the only near meaningful solution is that which the Church provides through counselling. But then most abusers are self-upright outlaws who abhor good counsel.

5/ This neglect of men is subtly destroying families & the society. Abusive people always find justifiable reasons for abusing others. So abusive women will justify their actions before their kids & pass the justification onto their daughters who marry & replicate similar actions

6/ Everyone agrees and rightfully so that a man has no business beating his wife or even any woman for that matter. But little or nothing has been agreed as to how to stop wives from using VERBAL WEAPONS against their husbands...unfortunately.

7/ So my shoutout TODAY goes to husbands everywhere who endure those unimaginable bile spewed on them by their wives and who had to leave house to avoid physical retaliation to verbal abuse. Helpless men who later have to return home for lack of anywhere else to go.

8/ My shoutout also goes to all men who have become frequent travelers just to be anywhere else than in their own homes. Men who've become regular customers to bars or club houses not just to chill with friends but to run far away from the VERBAL TORMENTS of an abusive wife.

9/ To all #groomedMen out there who've prayed for a peaceful home where they can rest after the days toiling; fathers and husband's who desire to get better but does not have that enabling home environment to thrive; your God will help you. You'll not die before your time. END
