A lot of people think that the Republicans #1 tool is racism. It isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, they love it, and they use the hell out of it, but it isn’t their best tool.

Their best tool is apathy.
That’s when they really thrive. That’s why they try to make politics so ugly that people don’t want to pay attention. So they throw up their hands and say “all politicians are bad and the same” and “there is no difference between Hillary and Trump."
they fucking LOVE that shit. That’s why people like Maggie Haberman and Chris Cilizza and the NY Times and all the both sides do it folks are so fucking dangerous and awful.
I mean it’s awful when the media does that shit for a number or reasons- like because they are afraid of pushback from right wingers, or because they think being in the “middle” helps their bottom line, or because it’s easier and many of the people in the media are not very smart
Them failing at their jobs for those reasons is terrible. But the worst thing about it is that it generates apathy among the public. People not caring enough to vote or get involved or even be informed is like the primordial stew out of which Republican politics rises.
It’s why I take breaks from the internet and shit and do things like garden and cook and just not think about politics. Because it can wear you down. And when it wears you down you just want to quit.
Get angry. Get involved. Use the dark side of the force, if you will. Don’t get apathetic. That’s the only way we are going to unfuck this mess.
