To be clear, this is 100% consistent with my previous position, which was: Don't open an impeachment inquiry because there's no going back.

But they did. So they have my full support. Because there's no going back.

I'll explore this more in the day time, but there's a reason all the media types are bashing Nancy and banging the drum for impeachment.

Retail has holidays
Restaurants have the dinner rush
TV has sweeps

That's what cataclysmic news stories like impeachment are for media

They aren't rushing us to impeachment out of personal outrage, or altruism, or bc they know more than you.

They DEFINITELY aren't doing it because it's good for Democrats

They want it because - win or lose - it means exposure and money and professional opportunity for them.

Y'all are all going to cling to your own conclusions but don't be lulled into complacency bc everyone you see on TV agrees with you. There's a reason they book those guests and not people who will tell you the downsides

They want you to force Nancy's hand for them

PSA: The question of Impeachment is not over whether Trump's crimes are "impeachable"- of course they are. He committed impeachable offenses the very first day.

The questions the House is considering are:

1) Is impeachment the best remedy?
2) Are the votes there?

Since we know the votes are not there, House or Senate, Impeachment is not the best remedy, since it is no remedy at all.

If the votes were there in the House, impeachment is still not a remedy, since it is a 2-part process and the votes aren't there in the Senate

Some of you would be happy with a failed impeachment.

You want to spank him

You want an asterisk by his name

You want to "send a message"

You care about the "judgment of history"

That's about you. That's about anger and fear and thirst for vengeance. That's not a remedy.

But that is not what happened. AOC attacked some of her colleagues, including my rep Terri Sewell. Nancy said, if you have a problem with other Democrats, don't take it to Twitter, come to me and let's work it out. That's leadership. AOC responded by playing the victim.

Here's the latest status report in the family separation class action (the Ms. L case): assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5031… The gov't says it has discharged 54 kids since the last report on 10/25 (screenshot on the left). That's a mix of reunifications with parents and going to a sponsor
There are still 25 kids in US care who were separated from a parent and potentially eligible for reunification. There are also 26 kids deemed ineligible for reunification b/c parent deemed unfit or a danger, and 99 kids with a parent not in the US and intent is unknown
You may recall that in the last report, the govt said it had just identified 14 more kids in custody who were separated from a parent (see: buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…). In today's report, they now say it was actually 13, because it turns out one kid *was* included in prev. numbers

Went to Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan today. Official population at 53,967, according to @UNHCR as of February 2018. All Syrian #refugees.

In many ways it was not what I expected.
First thing you notice is how remote the location is — some 100 kms east of Amman; 20 kms from Azraq town; 75 kms to Saudi Arabia; 255 kms to Iraq; and 90 kms to the Syrian border — from which its inhabitants fled.
At the same time, the harshness of the setting — a hardscrabble, sprawling 15 square km patch, scratched, etched and stretched out of endless rolling desert.

The perimeter was equally formidable, with security fencing, official patrols, check points and razor wire.
