NEW: @Hatewatch found US State Department official Matthew Q. Gebert in a photo of a white nationalist rally from 2017: splcenter.org/hatewatch/2019…
@Hatewatch We have heard from a source that Gebert was sent home by @StateDept in the immediate aftermath of our story.

AFAIK taxpayers are still paying his salary.

I verified the photo through four sources. A photograph of his wife Anna is also linked here and verified.
@Hatewatch @StateDept This image of a swastika-shaped cookie unearthed by @UR_Ninja in Discord leaks was familiar to one of the sources who spent time in Gebert's home.

The source told me that children were present in their home at the time these cookies were served.
@Hatewatch @StateDept @UR_Ninja Because Gebert as "Coach Finstock" produced such a huge amount of propaganda, there were things I missed on the first pass.

Here's one. He appears to brag about helping European fascists skirt immigration laws in March of 2018. 😬
Last thing on this thread: white nationalists repeatedly talk about “hiding their power levels” to slowly infiltrate positions of power.

This story is an indication that they are serious about it.

A U.S. State Department official oversaw the Washington D.C.-area chapter of a white nationalist organization, @Hatewatch has determined.

@Hatewatch Matthew Q. Gebert, operating as "Coach Finstock" worked with Michael "Enoch" Peinovich's organization The Right Stuff (TRS).

Peinovich's emails to a source helped corroborate his identity. Gebert and his wife are the third and fourth of TRS affiliates I've IDd this year.
@Hatewatch Gebert's wife, Anna Vuckovic, blogged as "Wolfie James" for TRS's website and another white nationalist site.

Her opsec was floppy and sloppy just like Peinovich's. Here she is giving away her location.

Torba blames his website's struggle to perform basic tasks on bots. He has insinuated the bots came from government workers or leftists.

Gab still brims with hate, celebrations of domestic terrorism, and extremist organizing.

The website is bleeding money but survives thanks to an Obama-era law and the crowdfunding company @StartEngineLA.

We have determined that Matthew Q. Gebert, a U.S. State Department official since 2013, oversaw a Washington D.C.-area chapter of a white nationalist organization, hosted white nationalists in his home & published white nationalist propaganda online. splcenter.org/hatewatch/2019…
Gebert operated under the alias “Coach Finstock,” based on a character from the 1985 movie Teen Wolf. His wife, Anna Vukovic, is also active in online white nationalist forums. She uses the pseudonym “Wolfie James,” possibly a reference to the same movie.
To report this story, @MichaelEHayden studied “Coach Finstock’s” online presence & spoke with Gebert’s neighbors, wife & sources who have attended gatherings of white nationalists at Gebert’s home.
