I "upgraded" from @ScanSnap ix500 to ix1500, which now requires ScanSnap Home in stead of ScanSnap Manager. ScanSnap Manager had "ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF", but that option is gone in ScanSnap Home: all PDFs generated are non searchable. Why?

@ScanSnap At scansnap.fujitsu.com/global/softwar…, it still indicates "ABBYY Scan to Searchable PDF" is possible.

Missing this from the ix1500 is breaking for me.

@ScanSnap Another deal breaker is that the scan window pops up prompting me to save the file.

The very useful ScanSnap Manager with the ix500 would just save the file, and move on: perfect when scanning many documents at once.

@ScanSnap Please advise how to solve both issues.

If these cannot be done with ix1500, I wil return it for an ix500 in order to have spare parts and a second scanning location.

@ScanSnap PS: do not suggest a cloud solution. That is not a proper solution for documents. GDPR and similar rulings in other geographic areas prohibit cloud based solution without the cloud provider going through many legal hoops. I am not even going to consider that route.

Accessibility in #UXdesign is not hard. It very much depends if you factor in accessibility from the very start.

It requires a different way of thinking early on in the process. Repairing inaccessible cases on the other hand is difficult in costly, and often is the case.
This basically holds for anything: when #accessibility is your starting point, then you can include it for a maximum of 5% of the total cost without having to compromise things like beautiful design.

Again, architecting solutions need to include accessibility from day 1! 💪

Central results of the HRI research on the Australian review that claimed homeopathy doesn’t work better than a placebo:
- It was conducted twice, which was previously unknown. Since the first review did not show the desired results, a second one was created. #Homöopathie THREAD
- The existence of the first report was never disclosed to the public, but only revealed by a request under the Australian Freedom of Information Act.
- The NHMRC had published the review based on more than 1,800 studies. In fact, only 176 studies were reviewed. Of these 176 studies, 171 were excluded from the review.

Ok, weil ein Artikel in der @tazamwe wieder eine Debatte über #Homöpathie angestoßen hat, hier noch ein Thread über einige Homöopathie-Mythen, denen nicht nur Befürworter sondern oft auch Gegner aufsitzen:
1/x Ich gehe hier nicht darauf ein, dass die Wirkungsweise der Homöopathie in 200 Jahren nie wissenschaftlich belegt werden konnte. Das einmal mehr zu wiederholen wird keine Homöopathiegläubigen von ihrem Glauben abbringen. Doch was spricht *für* Homöopathie?
2/x Oft heißt es, dass Homöopathie als "Gesprächstherapie" wirken kann, einfach weil Patienten Zuwendung von ihrem Homöopathen erhalten. Das stimmt zwar, ist aber ein romantisiertes Bild der Homöopathie. Nur ein geringer Teil der Therapien wird lehrbuchhaft

Was ist #Homöopathie?

Ein Homöopath behandelt einen kranken Menschen als Ganzes (nicht nur die Symptome), indem er sich die Symptome des Patienten anschaut und ein Mittel sucht, welches ähnliche Symptome bei gesunden Menschen hervorruft. Dann wird dieses Mittel verdünnt.

Der Homöopath spricht vom "Potenzieren". Nach jeder Verdünnung wird das Gemisch in Richtung des Erdmittelpunktes verschüttelt und ein Teil davon dann weiter verdünnt - häufig bis kein einziges Molekül des ursprünglichen Wirkstoffes mehr im Gemisch vorhanden ist.

Bei dieser Potenzierung hat der Wirkstoff aber eine geistartige Information über die Eigenschaft, welche beim gesunden Menschen besagte Symptome auslöst, auf unbekannte Weise an das Lösungsmittel übertragen, wo es auf für die Wissenschaft unerklärliche Weise gespeichert wird
