I kind of want to make a deck of Meta Cards as a systems-agnostic overlay for any roleplaying game. Give each player one facedown at the start of a game, they can play at any point.
Stuff like

"JUST THEN...

Play when your character is in a predicament with no obvious way out, such as being petrified or falling. Game runner will narrate an absurd series of coincidences that removes the predicament while having no other lasting effect on anything."
In my head that card is actually called "JUST THEN, ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE..." because the archetype here is the narrator from Rocky and Bullwinkle resolving a cliffhanger.

But I feel it would give the impression that Rocky and Bullwinkle are supposed to save the character.
The cards would be dealt facedown because if the gamerunner knows what card each player has, they might feel tempted to hedge against them.

Just randomly remembered back when I had a subscription to Mad Magazine and they sent it in a protective cover that read "HERE IS THE PORNOGRAPHY YOU ORDERED IN A BROWN PAPER COVER".
Mad Magazine existed in large part because anti-Semites tried to run highly successful comic book publisher William M. Gaines out of the business, but the moral panic they used didn't cover magazines.
It wasn't the only factor behind the Comics Code targeting of EC Comics nor was censorship of comics the only reason Mad became a magazine (the prestige of helming a magazine was a perk for an editor who had been offered a position elsewhere)... but it helped cement things.

The absolute gall of someone complaining that people are enjoying a museum wrong and then wondering why people think they are a snob.
"People are all bunched up im front of the paintings with their phones out!"

Sure, and if they put their phones away they would all go bunch up in front of the elevator instead? Standing in front of paintings is going to happen. The people snapping photos might move on quicker.
I mean, for heaven's sake, you're British. Aren't you supposed to be good at be queuing? If there is a crowd in front of the sunflowers, you wait for them to move on and then you step forward. It's not complicated, if you're able bodied.

The idea that public assistance makes people dependent and destroys self-sufficiency is a myth, a cruel lie.

First, the idea of "self-sufficiency" is illusory and overrated. We are a social species and we THRIVE through cooperation and specialization.
So what we term self-sufficiency is socially constructed.

A person who starts their day by getting into a car that was engineered by... I mean, frankly, some of the expertise that goes into modern cars is literally rocket science, at this point. That's how good we are at cars.
This car was designed by many brains and built by many hands. The things that went into its engine, its fuel mix, its chassis took generations to perfect. A person gets into it and drives over public roads built and maintained and paid for by again, many hands.

I often want to create hand-drawn* vector components to use in Twitterbots, generative art, etc

How do I efficiently create drawings in Illustrator, while also annotating metadata like IDs, attach points, etc, available for later manipulation?

(*well, wacom-drawn)
For "EveryonesAI", I had all of @google's Quickdraw path data, as JSON files.

I wrote Python to slurp the path data, turn it into SVG, store the SVG as rules in a Tracery grammar, then upload the whole mess to cheapbotsdonequick.com

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his last sermon (Khutbah) on the ninth of Dhul Hijjah (12th and last month of the Islamic year), 10 years after Hijrah (migration from Makkah to Madinah) in the Uranah Valley of mount Arafat.

1) Thinking about counting things to measure quality? You might be able to measure *some things* *that bear on* quality. By contrast, you can’t measure quality itself (as @jamesmarcusbach has said), but you can discuss it.

Consider this: s/how many/let’s talk about each/g /
2) When you suggest "let’s talk about each bug", you might hear (or think) "No way! We have too many bugs to talk about each one! Let’s just count them instead!" If so, you can already infer some crucial things about the product and project, with no need to bother counting. /
3) Of course, those inferences are only inferences, not facts. So investigate. When you do, you might be tempted to start counting bugs. But you'll probably want to make sure that your count is appropriately accurate, precise, valid, reliable... So you need to examine each one. /

So here's the thing--I am worried that publishing is killing libraries, and that will, in turn, kill publishing.
Library budgets are shrinking, or not growing at the rate of costs. A lot of these cuts are being felt in materials budgets--nudging up your holds ratio is less noticeable to users than cutting hours, and less damaging to staff morale than layoffs.
(Holds ratios are how many holds we allow ourselves to have per copy of an item, once we have more holds than that, we buy more copies to meet demand. You're not imagining things--wait times probably are getting longer at your library. This is why.)

So I was confused why THIS of all threads has resulted in enough toxic nerd rage to result in death threats:

It seems like such an innocuous statement? But it's occurred to me that I've accidentally attacked an institution of abusive masculine nerd power.
The weird part of the thread is that almost none of the people raging and attacking me are actually responding to what I've said.
Where I'm talking about reducing the likelihood of GMs and players mistreating each other at the table, the haters seem to just want to explain to me how the GM's role is to be god within the roleplaying game. Why are they arguing a point that was never being questioned?

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
