@5pointpastor @Pat_Doucet Yes, thank you for being charitable in this conversation. I care about both men and women victims. I focus on behavior a bit more than labels. I've seen people decide not to divorce as a result of coming to my groups, and I applaud that too.

@5pointpastor @Pat_Doucet Certainly there are victims that wish their church had "forced" the abusive to behave better. That's an impossible task. The best the Puritans could do was to fine abusers, and eventually okay divorces. I don't think the church gets a vote.

@5pointpastor @Pat_Doucet Churches in general are places for spiritual nurturing; we are not trained forensic investigators. We aren't neutral. We are easy to manipulate. We don't have the discipline to interview 20 witnesses. We don't follow rules of evidence. We aren't experts in psychology.

@5pointpastor @Pat_Doucet So I am a little nervous about allowing churches to have a say in a major decision like this. So we may disagree on this.
That's where wisdom, humility and discernment come in. I've seen too many situations where the pastor called it wrong. (I've done it too.)
