- How to ask for an introduction
- Introducing yourself crisply over email
- Persuasive follow-up
I (often subconsciously) decide if someone is more or less of a pro based on how they do these things.
It’s “self-advocacy”
- Reduce friction down to zero for introducer. Write a forwardable email.
- Bullet points for self-intro. Stick to the highlights, make it easy to scan in (literally) 5 seconds.
- Most persuasive mode of follow up is being *proactively helpful*.
You dont always have an introducer. When you don’t:
- Cold outreach is okay. Just lower win pct., so it may take longer.
- Look for hyperconnectors, or ‘network nodes’. They may be more open to blind chat, and can open networks to you.
- Create more surface area!
One suggestion: write publicly and link to it in your email signature.
