Sorry to put it this way but when you're down a rook in the endgame sometimes the only thing you can do is knock over the board. THEY got the jump - much is locked in, legally, technically, psychologically. We want to stop the rigging, we have to radically increase transparency.
Butting heads with ES&S and the Kemps of the world over this or that detail isn't going to get that done. It is necessary but not sufficient. We need a huge surge in public awareness and alarm - and a MINDSET SEA CHANGE. Stop expecting it to be done FOR us. Get in there and do!
What does that mean? Present ourselves as a workforce for our democracy, ready to count/audit/observe. Assert our right to perform that duty. Reject the cynical absurdity of $3500 electronic pencils for able voters. So #HandMarkedPaperBallots for starters.
But THEN a fierce determination that we not just be told to trust and accept concealed counts of those ballots. Where there is any question, DEMAND recount/audit/investigation. And put a Hong Kong behind those demands. Don't just go home and say "Oh well," as we have in the past.
That's really our test - how much we really want democracy, how much we're willing to do for free and fair elections. Of course, it would be nice if Anonymous v.2 just stepped in & counter-rigged. But not bloody likely. And not something to make us proud. We the People means WE.
