It's a typical Wednesday morning in the Trump administration and in just one newspaper, @washingtonpost , I count _ten_ articles (not counting op eds) in which report that Trump committed egregious acts that would derail almost any other presidency. /1
@washingtonpost 1. Trump fast-tracks Wall and "told worried subordinates that he will pardon them of any potential wrongdoing should they have to break laws to get the barriers built quickly." /2
washingtonpost.com/immigration/ta…
@washingtonpost 2. Trump's self-dealing plan to hold the next G-7 meeting at his property (a clear violation of the Emoluments Clause) catches local officials by surprise./3
washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
@washingtonpost 3. As hurricane nears Puerto Rico, Trump diverts disaster relief funds to build his Wall. /4
washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
@washingtonpost 4. Barr plans holiday party at Trump hotel. /5
washingtonpost.com/business/2019/…
@washingtonpost 5. Deutsche Bank has some of the tax records that Trump has refused to release to the public (claiming, risibly, that they are ALL under "routine audit"). /6

@washingtonpost 6. Trump seeks to end decades-old logging restrictions in Alaska's Tongass National Forest. 9.5 million acres are at risk./7
washingtonpost.com/climate-enviro…
@washingtonpost 7. Trump has publicly named-dropped his properties at least 70 times during his presidency. /8
washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/…
@washingtonpost 8. Trump backs Bolsonaro as the Amazon burns. (This one is from an op ed but the facts are clear.) /9
washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/…
@washingtonpost 9. The Trump administration, at odds with its own EEOC, supports removing protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation. (This is also from an op ed, but, again, the facts are clear.)/10 washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/…
@washingtonpost 10. Judge examines whether the White House is justified in suspending the access credentials of a reporter. /11
washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/…
@washingtonpost Bonus Track # 1: I didn't count Trump's false claims about his Doral property, which has been found to have had a bed bug problem in the not too distant past. /12
washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/…
@washingtonpost Compared with many other moments, this is not an excessively newsworthy day for Trump. Although a number of these articles would have been enough to derail the Obama presidency, this is pretty much an average day for Trump. /13
@washingtonpost And there are so many ongoing stories/scandals not covered in today's headlines. (To take one relatively small matter: where is the "phenomenal" health care plan that on June 17th he promised he would reveal within two months?) /14
@washingtonpost Yet Trump is rarely called to account. If President Obama had violated campaign finance laws to pay off two women with whom he had had sex, this would have been the lead story for months and he would have been asked to account for it every day. /15
@washingtonpost As new scandals accrue, old ones are forgotten. Rinse and repeat. Next week's paper will very likely have ten different outrageous stories. /16
