She's autistic. She's stimming. They have tics. They rock to comfort ourselves. These were the things that made autistic people subject to shocks and brutal treatment in the 70s and even today.
By the way, people who follow @GretaThunberg should follow @NaturalistDara, who is another #ActuallyAutistic climate activist and zoomer. As @stevesilberman says, there's a reason two leading voices on climate change are autistic.
@GretaThunberg @NaturalistDara @stevesilberman Oh and Autism is a condition that affects one in 59 children in the U.S. (we don't have a survey of adults like the U.K.) so if you don't have an autistic child, you have a relative, a coworker or a friend who does. You just don't know it.
Wow, this blew up. With this in mind, I am writing a book about autism, adulthood and the politics of neurodiversity. If anyone knows of organizations that help autistic people find community integrated housing across the U.S., reach me. DMs open. EMGarcia2009@gmail.com
I hadn't considered this but just came to mind is that I don't what it says that @Malala received almost universal praise and acclaim for her activism on girls' schooling after being shot in the face and isn't told to shut up but @GretaThunberg is when it comes to Climate Change
