While “the open market place of ideas” argument may sway some neutral or undecided parties, it won’t work with progressives, so you may as well stop making it to them.
They reason

1 In an open marketplace of ideas, progressive ideas do not flourish
2 But progressive ideas are the best ideas
2 ∴ the best ideas DO NOT flourish in such a market
1 The only environment in which progressive ideas flourish is a closed environment in which they are ceaselessly propagandized while other ideas are ruthlessly censored
2 But progressive ideas are best
3 So the environment in 1 is the best environment to create and maintain

Meltdown? Who the crap is Meltdown?

Oh, that’s Boom Boom.

I guess she went by “Meltdown” for half a minute way back when.
That doesn’t even make SENSE.

She creates balls that explode. Basically miniature bombs. Sometimes not so miniature.

There’s no melting.
There are lots of BOOMs though.

The stat book of One Punch man gives its heroes rankings in various attributes.

These include

Stamina
Intelligence
Endurance
Power
Fighting Ability

We’d see that in a Marvel or DC superhero rating system.

But they also include:

Popularity
Effectiveness
Justice
For example, Marvel uses

Intelligence
Strength
Speed
Durability
Energy Projection
Fighting Ability
“Popularity” isn’t hard to make sense of. But Westerners don’t think to include it.

So the thing about dunking on Bret Stephens - it's fun, but it's also cathartic.

Because for years now, the right-wing has been running a multi-pronged grift that is designed to collapse the world to a single narrow set of allowed viewpoints, and it backfired on him this time.
First of all, the reason Bret Stephens has a job is a perverse kind of Affirmative Action, the only kind of Affirmative Action that works the way critics of Affirmative Action imagine it to work.

He was hired to be a "token conservative".
The reason the New York Times needs a "token conservative" is because, well, it's a liberal rag, right? So left-wing. Radical left-wing extremist hotbed. So they hire Bret Stephens. And Ross Douthat. And they constantly give editorial space to right-wing thinkers and speakers.

1. In the USA price fixing is illegal. Price fixing is an agreement between a group of people to buy or sell a product, service or commodity only at an agreed upon price or control the market via supply and demand so that the item has a stable price..
2. Price fixing requires a conspiracy between people. The goal is to coordinate the market for the benefit of the group. Price fixing is easier to do with a market that is controlled by an oligopoly. Oligopolies occur when a market is dominated by a few companies.
3. Some examples of oligopolies in the USA include: the cellular market, media market, oil market, social media, big AG, computer OS companies, internet companies

4. Oligopolies are not inherently bad or good. It depends like everything else on their actions.

Anyone wanting to argue that punching a nazi makes you "as bad as them" or that everyone deserves free speech, no matter how abhorrent we find their ideas, would do well to remember that people were having the same discussions during the rise of national socialism in Germany

Look for Beto O’Rourke’s “I’ll knock the wall down” to be featured in a campaign ad targeting him (if he runs in 2020). Trump and others will likely use this to paint O’Rourke as wanting “open borders for drug gangs and “criminals”.
2. Focus on border cities/safety distracts from the larger question: there are a record number of families crossing the southern border - 500,000 just last year - at this rate 6,000,000 by 2030. How do politicians propose to fund the processing and resettling of such families?
3. Assuming it costs $50,000 to process/resettle each family unit crossing the southern border, that’s $300 billion required by 2030 - how do politicians propose raising this? In the meantime, how will schools and hospitals be funded to cope with influx?
