😇 Southampton 1 - 1 Man Utd 👿

Possession: 41.5% vs 58.5%
Shots: 10 vs 21
Shots on Target: 2 vs 8
xG: 0.86 vs 1.56
xGC: 1.56 vs 0.86

* A wasteful Man Utd yet again paid for missed opportunities as they were pegged back to a 1-1 draw by a well drilled Southampton side who ..
played much of the game with 10 men after Danso collected his second yellow of the game
* Daniel James scored his 3rd goal of the season and it was a real thunderbolt by the £15m man. The Welshman was United’s biggest threat with a number of powerful attempts (5) on target (3)
* Paul Pogba was largely ineffectual and limped our of St Mary’s with what looked like an ankle injury
* AWB offered more attacking threat than previous games and could have opened his United account with 1 big chance, a volley from inside the box. “The spider” made an ...
impressive 12 tackles, more than any player in GW5
* United’s defensive vulnerability was again highlighted after 10 seconds of weakness allowed Vestergaard to score his first goal for the Saints, a towering header above a helpless Lindelof..
* Marcus Rashford was poor again, offering little to the United attack and blighted by poor finishing and decision making. Whilst he had the highest xGI (0.76) only 2 of his 6 shots (all of which in the penalty box) hit the target
* Youngster Mason Greenwood was again on the ..
.. bench for most of the game but nearly grabbed a winner after a bending shot was well saved. There is hope he will play more of a pivotal role as the season progresses and could provide great value for money
* For Southampton Che Adams had 1 big chance which was sliced horribly
and the highest xG (0.4) of any Saints player before being substituted
* Goal hero Vestergaard will no doubt see investment after sweeping up 3 points bonus giving him a tidy 11 point return
* Angus Gunn benefitted from United’s lack of cutting edge, making 7 saves for 2 save..
... points and 1 bonus. He has now achieved 12 points in the last 2 GW
* Man Utd host Leicester at Old Trafford after the international break and things don’t get much easier for Solskjaer with Arsenal and Liverpool in their next 5
* Ralf Hasenhuttl’s Saints have 2 favourable fixtures (Sheffield United and Bournemouth) followed by 3 tough games (Spurs, Chelsea, Wolves)
🔵 Chelsea 2 - 2 Sheffield Utd ⚔️

Possession: 62.2% vs 37.8%
Shots: 13 vs 8
Shots on Target: 5 vs 2
xG: 2.07 vs 1.13
xGC: 1.13 vs 2.07

* Chelsea’s defensive frailties came back to haunt them yet again after an encouraging attacking display was undermined by a late equaliser
..from a plucky Sheffield United
* Tammy Abraham’s hot streak continued with two more goals, the first a poachers goal after a Henderson fumble, the second taking advantage of a defensive mix up. Indeed he was only denied his hattrick by a world class reaction save by Henderson..
* He registered an xG of 1.19, 7 penalty box touches, 4 chances created and 4/4 shots in the box. His price rose on Saturday night and could be due a 0.3 rise over the international break
* American starlet Pulisic looked sharp all game, providing a scrappy assist for Abraham’s
first - one to watch!
* Robinson started Sheffield United’s resurgence thanks to some good work out wide by Stevens. Robinson then whipped in a cross on the 89th minute, forcing Zouma to touch the ball in to his own net for a last gasp own goal. His xGI of 1.04 was second..
only to Abraham and resulted in a tidy 11 points
* Barkley proved disappointing again and, as a troll would do, came off on 59:50 for a disappointing 1 point
* Mason Mount has a quiet afternoon but could have had a goal if not for a last gasp Sheffield United block. His..
underlying stats were poor with just 1 chance created, 3 crosses and an xA of 0.07. Despite this, his returns to date for price have been outstanding
* Sheffield United have a tough run of games ahead including Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal in GW6/7/9
* Chelsea have 2 tough games against Wolves and Liverpool before a more favourable run of Brighton, Southampton and Newcastle
🦅 Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Aston Villa 🦁

Possession: 53.1% vs 46.9%
Shots: 22 vs 10
Shots on Target: 5 vs 2
xG: 1.41 vs 0.41
xGC: 0.41 vs 1.41

* Crystal Palace ground out a 1-0 win against a dogged Villa side having played against 10 men for much of the game after Trezeguet’s red
* James McArthur (5.4) missed an easy opportunity to open the scoring, blazing over from inside the box. This was the only “big chance” of the game besides the two goals
* In Schlupp and Zaha Palace have two players that offer a direct and Lacey threat, the Ivory Coast ..
international was a particular thorn in the side for Villa with 2/2 shots in the box, the most take ons (6), 34 touches in the final third and most penalty box touches (10)
* Jordan Ayew scored against his former club and scored for the second successive game. At 5m he ..
continues to go under the radar with many favouring the more expensive Barnes, Abraham and Haller
* VAR struck again, denying Villa a goal for a “dive” by Grealish in the build up in what was the worst decision of the Gameweek
* This was Palace’s 2nd clean sheet of the season and the cut price Kelly continues, for now, to offer exceptional value for money with PvA continues his run as the highest scoring defender with a score of 24
* The popular Wesley had a quiet afternoon for Villa, attempting only 2
.. shots, neither of which were on target and with a paltry xG of 0.10
* Milivojevic was the games chief creator with 6 chances created
* Arsenal aside in GW6, Villa have some of the best fixtures in the league for the next 5 GW with West Ham at home next and games against..
...Burnley, Norwich and Brighton
* Palace have the mixed fixtures with a tricky game against Spurs and GW9 tie with City, but wedges between these games against Wolves, Norwich and West Ham
🦊 Leicester 3 - 1 Bournemouth 🍒

Possession: 55.1% vs 44.9%
Shots: 13 vs 8
Shots on Target: 5 vs 2
xG: 1.57 vs 0.57
xGC: 0.57 vs 1.57

* Leicester came out 3-1 winners against Eddie Howe’s men to move in to 3rd in the table
* Vardy opened the scoring for the Foxes with a sumptuous lob leaving Ramsdale stranded. The whippet front man could have had a second thanks to a Ramsdale mistake before setting up Tielemans to tap home his first of the season before Tielemans returned the favour to wrap up the
..victory and secure him a GW topping 16 points. Vardy now sits on 28 points, the 3rd highest total of any forward
* Callum Wilson continued his run of returning in every game so far with a well taken goal to level the game, taking advantage of an out of position Soyuncu ending..
a 6 game goal drought. His 3 assists and 1 goal leaves him on 20 points despite a 0.2m price drop. Ryan Fraser assisted the Cherries front man, his first goal contribution this season. He too has faced a 0.2m drop
* Surprisingly Rico was on the bench again despite Daniel’s season
..being over already with injury
* Maddison narrowly flashed a header wide of the far post from a sumptuous Albrighton delivery. At a cut price 7.1m, his xG of 5.2 and 3 shots on goal continue his positive run of underlying stats - explosion imminent!
* Leicester now face a gruelling run of fixtures with a trip to Old Trafford next followed by Spurs and Liverpool in their next 3
* The Cherries’ fixtures begin to ease with Everton, Southampton, West Ham, Arsenal and Norwich up next
🦈 Man City 4 - 0 Brighton 🕊

Possession: 54.1% vs 45.9%
Shots: 15 v 6
Shots on Target: 6 vs 2
xG: 1.81 vs 0.87
xGC: 0.87 vs 1.81

* A rampant Man City romped home to a comfortable 4-0 win principally thanks to a resurgent Sergio Aguero (2G, 1A) and the mercurial KDB (1G, 1A)..
with B.Silva getting the final goal in a 12 minute cameo
* Aguero, now the game’s top scorer (40 points) is, as of Saturday evening, only the 5th most owned forward. With a hand in 3/4 goals scored including a world class finish for his second. He registered 5 shots, 4 of which..
in the area - expect a 0.2/0.3 price rise by GW5
* David Silva continued the trend of much loved but under appreciated FPL legends by registering 2 assists. Whilst he is a regular victim of Pep-tation his modest 7.4m price point is attractive. He also missed a big chance having..
been slipped in by Sterling early on,. His xGI (0.76) was the highest of any player.
* Aymeric Laporte came off injured in the first half to the dismay of his owners (7.9%). Based on Pep’s post match comments it could be a bad one. Otamendi at 5.4m offers and attractive option..
and significant goal threat
* Sterling had a quiet game to disappoint many of those that captained him, his xGI (0.32) ranked 7th
* Trossard had 3/3 shots in the box and two big chances, one which was well saved by an otherwise untroubled Ederson, the other a scuffed effort..
blocked by Fernandinho. Surprisingly the Argentine had the highest xG (0.65) of any player on the pitch
* Brighton’s marauding full back Montoya continues to impress despite the heavy loss, he had the highest xA (0.39), 12 passes in the final third and 1 big chance created
* City have a favourable run of games now with an away trip to pours Norwich and Watford, Everton, Wolves and Palace next
* Brighton host Burnley next with Newcastle and Villa in the following 4 games
🔲 Newcastle 1 - 1 Watford 🐝

Possession: 48.7% vs 51.3%
Shots: 13 vs 13
Shots on Target: 5 vs 3
xG: 1.00 vs 1.03
xGC: 1.03 vs 1.00

* A depleted Newcastle and downtrodden Watford played out an evenly fought 1-1 draw in a game unlikely to have attracted much attention from the..
FPL community
* Watford took an early lead with Will Hughes slotting in a rebound shot after just 1 minute
* Fabian Schar scored his 5th goal in 2019 underlined by his xG (0.5) and xGI (0.52), both the highest in the game. Posing a significant goal threat his 5m price point is..
likely to attract a few suitors
* Ben Foster did well to tip a swerving Hayden shot on to the cross bar before preventing the ball going in the net after a 5 man scramble near the goal line
* Almiron registered the most penalty box touches (4) but didn’t attempt a single shot..
, the silky Paraguay international’s initial FPL appeal is quickly waining
* Joelinton looked classy throughout but his position was often deep and more creator than finisher, releasing Muto for a late opportunity to win the game for the Magpies which he spurned. The Brazilian..
did have 2/2 shots in the box but failed to the hit the target
* Things don’t get easier for Steve Bruce’s men with a trip to Anfield after the international break and United and Chelsea in the next 5
* Likewise Watford have a horrendous next 5 games hosting Arsenal next...
followed by City, Wolves, Sheffield United and Spurs
🔨 West Ham 2 - 0 Norwich 🔰

Possession: 49.1% vs 50.9%
Shots: 18 vs 8
Shots on Target: 8 vs 3
xG: 1.96 vs 1.06
xGC: 1.06 vs 1.96

* West Ham chalked up their second successive win against a spirited Norwich to ease pressure on Mauricio Pellegrini
* Sébastien Haller made it 3 goals in 2 games with a predator’s goal thanks to a barnstorming Masuaku run. He can feel aggrieved not to have won a penalty after VAR inexplicably didn’t pick up a clear foul in the box by Tom Trybull. No player had more shots (4), shots in the box
..(4), big chances (2) or xG (1.0) than the Frenchman. Masuaku incidentally
* Todd Cantwell headed over from 4 yards after a good run and cross by Max Aarons. With 2 attempts, q1 big chance a solid xG the budget friendly midfielder continues to appeal
* West Ham’s Ukrainian number 7 Yarmolenko (5.9) doubled the Hammers lead minutes after smashing the post with a thunderous shot seconds earlier
* Lanzini almost made it 3 but for a top save from Tim Krul who also denied Anderson and Snodgrass
* The Pukki party finally came to a halt with the Finland international managing 2/2 shots on target including 1 big chance but a paltry xG of 0.09. He is now the second most transferred forward out, with 100k owners selling
* West Ham’s fortunes could continue to be on the up..
with Villa, Man Utd, Bournemouth and Palace in the next four
* For Norwich the honeymoon May be over with a home fixture against Pep’s Manchester City up next and a tough Burnley and defensively solid Palace to follow
🍷 Burnley 0 - 3 Liverpool 🔴

Possession: 36.9% vs 63.1%
Shots: 7 vs 15
Shots on Target: 2 vs 7
xG: 0.83 vs 0.97
xGC: 0.97 vs 0.83

* An impressive Liverpool saw out a couple of early scares to stroll home to a 3-0 victory against Burnley
* Salah looked dangerous despite a lowly xG (0.19), rattling the woodwork early on and narrowly missing the opportunity to open the scoring thanks to a smart Pope save (1/5 this game). He frustrated team mates throughout however with selfish decision making denying both Mane..
and Firmino 1 on 1 opportunities. Ironically his assist for Firmino came about through a direct dribble and miscontrol that inadvertently landed at the Brazilian’s feet
* Alexander-Arnold had a major part on what was a bizarre opening goal, his cross deflecting off Wood’s back..
and looping over the head of a hopeless Pope. On 22 points TAA sits third in the table for points behind PvA and Digne and was a constant threat with his deliveries (3 chance created), earning him 2 bonus
* Sadio Mane doubled the Liverpool lead with a smart finish having been..
fed in by Firmino. His 8 points better that of Salah (6), a scenario that is likely to yo-yo for the remainder of the season
* Firmino continues to go under the radar for many managers with a goal, assist and 3 bonus taking him to the 6th highest scoring forward. This was...
underpinned by the most shots (6) of any player on the field
* FPL favourite, Ashley Barnes was well shackled throughout and failed to register a shot on target. For the minority that backed Chris Wood it was a further gut wrencher with TAA’s deflected cross counted at an OG
* Those with double Liverpool defence will be relieved their patience paid off with the first clean sheet of the season with Van Dijk sneaking the last bonus point
* Nick Pope was just a single save off (5) earning himself two save points. Whilst Burnley haven’t kept a clean..
sheet since their opening fixture expect him to rack up some well earned save points over the season
* Burnley now face a sensation run of games with Brighton, Norwich, Villa in their next 3
* For the Reds the leaky defences of Newcastle, Chelsea & Sheffield United promise goals
🍬 Everton 3 - 2 Wolves 🐺

Possession: 58.8% vs 41.2%
Shots: 15 vs 8
Shots on Target: 6 vs 5
xG: 1.34 vs 2.01
xGC: 2.01 vs 1.34

* GW4’s penultimate fixture didn’t disappoint with Everton winning a 5 goal thriller against the tired legs of Wolves
* An old FPL favourite Richarlison finally announced himself to the 19/20 season with 2 goals and maximum bonus. The Brazilian was in lethal form with 3/3 shots on target, converting from a modest 0.37 xG
* The modestly price Iwobi (5.9m) scored a fine header and 2 BAPS to offer
..us yet another attractive budget midfield option. A word of caution - his best league return to date is 3 goals and he scored from his only shot of the game
* Moise Keane got his first start of the season and looked lively throughout and rewarding his owners with an assist
* Lucas Digne got returns for his 3rd game in 4 with a late assist and 1 bonus. At 6.1m he offers as much going forward as he does clean sheets and with 23 points is the second highest defensive scorer behind PvA
* Wolves for their part looked tired after their European exerts..
..but did manage to make it a nervy affair for the Blues
* Saïss cancelled out Richarlison’s opener before Raul Jimenez levelled again on the 75th minute with a brave header to score in his second successive game. The Mexican looks back to his best form from last season and had..
a solid xGI of 0.77 to back this
* Wily Boly put in another solid display before his sending off in the 95th minute. He now sits on 16 points at just 5m but misses their next game to suspension
* Wolves clearly missing Doherty as an attacking outlet who recently had knee surgery
* Wolves have two tough games against Chelsea and Palce next with City in GW8
* Everton conversely have two easier fixtures in Bournemouth and Sheffield Utd with City a week earlier in GW7
⭕️ Arsenal 2 - 2 Tottenham 🐔

Possession: 54.8% vs 45.2%
Shots: 26 vs 13
Shots on Target: 8 vs 9
xG: 2.40 vs 1.97
xGC: 1.97 vs 2.40

* An Aubameyang goal midway through the second half secured a 2-2 draw for Arsenal in a thrilling North London derby
* Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for Spurs, now back in the team after a summer transfer has failed to materialise he also created 2 chances and 4 goal attempts. At 8.8m could he be back in our thinking?
* Harry Kane doubled their lead thanks to a well taken penalty and..
later hit a post with a rasping shot but at 11m his average was concerningly deep and outshone by attacking players from both sides. At 11m he is sure to divide the community over the international break
* One player to pass the eye test and highlight Kane’s divisive performance
...was Heung-min Son who earned a penalty from a reckless Kolasinac challenge and, along with Pepe, was the best player on the pitch.
* For Arsenal Aubameyang scores his 3rd goal in 4 game and Lacazette his 2nd in 4. The dynamic duo were a threat throughout with 10 shots (6 on..
target between them)
* However new boy Pepe was the standout for the Gunners, he was a menace throughout with the most shots of any player on the pitch (7), most take ons (5), most touches in the final third (49), 7 touches in the area, an assist and a number of direct free..
kicks and corners. At a hefty 9.4m price point he won’t be easy to accommodate!
* With no clean sheets for Spurs this season and none in the last 3 for Arsenal beware investment in either defence for now
* The Gunners now have an enviable run of fixtures including Watford and Villa in their next two and Bournemouth and Sheffield Utd I’m GW8/9
* Tottenham too have a promising run including Palace, Leicester, Southampton and Brighton
AAAAND THATS A WRAP!

As promised it was a big one, any feedback would be appreciated! (Was it too long? 😴)
