BREAKING: High Court rejects attempt to rule that PM Boris Johnson acted unlawfully by proroguing Parliament for five weeks as the Brexit deadline looms. So Prime Minister wins.
However, the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett, has also ruled that the case can be immediately taken to the Supreme Court on appeal because of the important point of law at stake.
In short: The claimant, Gina Miller (backed by Sir John Major) said that the manner in which the PM has sought to close down Parliament for five weeks had breached Parliamentary sovereignty and had been an "abuse of power".
The government argues that it was not an abuse of power. The full reasons for this morning's judgement in favour of the PM will be given later and will form part of the appeal at the Supreme Court.
The talk - obviously unconfirmed at this stage - is that a Supreme Court appeal will be heard on 17 September.
