Break: Parliament is to be prorogued tonight. No Parliament, select committees or scrutiny of the executive until October 14th. Perfectly legal but the longest prorogation in modern history, in the middle of the biggest political crisis since the war.
Also the government line that parliament was only losing five days is now untrue. Given parliament is being prorogued today, not at the end of the week, it is losing nine (and in reality prob more because Commons might well have voted to sit for a few days over conf season).
As a result the PM will miss only his second PMQs since taking office and his scheduled appearance before the liaison committee (the supposed twice yearly grilling before the heads of select committees, usually a tough day for any prime minister)
Also worth noting, assuming early election vote goes as expected this evening, parliament being prorogued tonight means there cannot be an October election and earliest (Thursday) date it could be is November 21st.
Suspect November 28th more likely, or sometime in that week, at least.
