#AtikuIsComing ?

It would take a special and extraordinary reasoning, or some funny technicality, for Atiku to lose at the PEPT today. But I’m not ruling it out.

I’ve always maintained that if the Tribunal would apply the law as it is, without looking for a finger to hide behind to give judgment to President Buhari at all cost, Alh Atiku Abubakar has this.

But I want to be circumspect.

So I read and listened to President Buhari’s camp views as why the campaigns, #AtikuBusted and #Atikuhasnocase were launched.

I expected that they would provide narratives based on happenings in court, admitted evidence and written addresses to energise their base...

...and counter Atiku’s team who have consistently done that.

And I was not disappointed that they did nothing of such. They did not address the issues bar qualification, which was answered with a lie and misinformation.

Hear them:

1. If Atiku claimed that he got results from INEC server as transmitted by the card readers, and also claimed that card readers were not used in 11 states, that means if card readers were used in all the states, voter turn out would have been over 50m, which was impossible...

Therefore, his petition is contradictory and should fail.

How does that win you a case in court? This argument was not even made during trial.

I suspect this is contained in Buhari’s preliminary objection which the court held that Atiku’s team failed to respond to, and the PEPT is thinking of relying on such warped reasoning under the guise that it is deemed admitted. That’s why this is the narrative they pushed out.

If this happens, (God forbid), it will be a very bad day for democracy. The judges would have to bury their heads in shame. But it will make the appeal at the Supreme Court easy for Atiku.

2. Buhari cannot be said not to be qualified because he was a military general and had maintained that his certificate got missing during a raid on his premises during the coup.

Also, Atiku’s lawyers went to Cambridge to verify the result and were disappointed.

One, that he was a military general is not a substitute for his certificate nor proof that he completed SSCE. We have fake lawyers who practiced for years before they were caught. That would never make them qualified to practice as lawyers.

These were also misinformation. It’s not on record that he ever told INEC or the court that his apartment was raided. He only said the documents were with the military, which the military denied.

It’s also not true that Atiku’s lawyers went to Cambridge to verify his result.

Their anti-Atiku campaigns centred on “contradictions in Atiku’s petition” which were reached based on speculations and conjectures. They also used misinformation, a tool they are expert at.

Their case at the PEPT had no substance nor weight. But, as I stated, some weird reasoning or lame technicality can send us on our way to the Supreme Court. We should be ready to fight to finish!

Bar any such unconventional event, #ATIKUISCOMING!!!
