Babcock University: Recalcitrancy, Poor Information Dissemination, Disregard for Parents & Guardians, etc. #Thread
We are always so quick to point at the government and politicians, to tag them as corrupt, when we, the people are corruption defined.

Babcock University is a good tertiary institution with regards to academics, but I'm afraid, I can't say same for their administration and
management.

I have a sister, who's a 400 level law student there. About 2 or 3 sessions ago, a few days to resumption, the school increased their fees almost triple times the normal fees, without prior notice. Okay that passed (it's one of those things, yeah).
Last year, the amount to be paid was stated on the website, and payments were made based on what was stated on the website. After students had resumed, the school said, what was on the site was wrong and gave a somewhat unrealistic deadline for Parents/Guardians to pay about
double or more the amount paid. The students decided they were going to protest, and the school threatened to have them suspended if they went on with the protest (can you imagine that?) My parents thought about making a case but decided against it on the grounds that the school
may make life unbearable for my Sister. Again that passed (another one of those things that get swept under the carpet).

Last week, my Sister did a lot of running around in preparation for Sunday when they were asked to resume, payments were made as usual, but there was some
sort of error that needed to be sorted out at the registry/bursary. Sunday morning, I put my life at risk, as well as my Mom and Sister's, because I drove like a maniac, a 2 hour 30 minutes drive from Lagos to Ilisan Remo, took 1 hour 5 minutes, because I wanted everything to be
over with quickly. The risk was even more, because I didn't sleep at all the previous night. So we got to Babcock Uni, with the hopes that, the error would be corrected, whatever needed to be signed would get signed, and my Sis would be allocated her room, then we would drive her
to their Iperu campus (for Law students), drop her and her numerous baggage, then be off to Lagos. Remember, the students were asked to resume on Sunday. Nobody was on seat to attend the students! Majority of whom got the same error as my Sister. A lot of these students came from
places farther than Lagos, my Mom called the registrar, and it was said that nothing could be done that day till the next day, after spending hours waiting! So apparently, those who couldn't travel back to their homes would have to pay for the guest house, because hostel rooms
could not be allocated. So we hit road back home with my Sis and her load. Again I drove like a maniac (risky stuff), because I didn't want to get caught in any traffic on that Lagos-Ibadan highway. God brought us home safely. Early Monday morning, we hit the road again, I had
stuff to do, so I was on some "Need For Speed" driving, we got to Babcock Uni, one approval was gotten in the morning, you need to have seen the crowd of students there, with only one person to attending to them. My Sis was there till 4pm, my Mom was livid, and she made it known.
Only after my Mom's angry reaction did the woman tell us to go to the Iperu campus to get an error unblock note- at past 4 freaking PM! We drove to the Iperu campus, and getting the note didn't take up to 2 minutes, We drove back to Babcock Uni's main campus, and in less than
20 minutes, it was all done! What we came for the previous day, and yesterday from 8am to 4pm only took about 30 minutes, after my Mom's outburst. I hate driving in Lagos mainland traffic at night, so we left Iperu campus at past 5, & by past 6 we were at Agidingbi, we didn't get
home till past 8, and that was due traffic.
Do you know they fixed their parent's forum for today? They wasted two days for me, and intended to make this the third day to waste.

Do you know there was no apology for their own error on the their website about the fees, rather
they had the effrontery to threaten students with suspension if they protested, and also gave parents/guardians a stupid deadline to pay. I mean your website gave a wrong info, simple courtesy demands you apologize for the error and inconvenience(s), but no Babcock Uni is
untouchable.
Why on earth would you ask students to resume on Sunday, aware of the fact that students have errors to clear, and you also need to allocate rooms, yet no one was available to attend to the students and parents?
You knew an unblock note had to be collected, why keep
people waiting from 8am to 4pm before passing the information, after getting shouted at?
Why can the school not consider the fact that some people came from very distant places, and the roads are not safe? (I had a near miss on the Lagos-Ore road, God was merciful)
@Babcock_Univ your management, admin, and IT need to do better.
