Hi all, jut wanted to let you know that I'm taking some time out for a while.
I need some space to reflect - the last few days I have been incensed by the vitriol of some of the Remain community and the way in which they have been describing those who voted Leave.

Some of that criticism has been extremely defamatory, using vile stereotyping and, in my view, makes Remainers look bitter & superior. I'm not talking about the natural anger for pro-Brexit politicians or the media figures, they are fair targets in some cases.

I'm referring to people assuming many of my family and friends are racist, stupid and ignorant. So, I cannot right now, in all conscience, support a #RemainerNow campaign which encourages Leave voters to 'come over to the side' which has some extremely nasty voices in it.

I want to #StopBrexit as much as the rest, but I simply will not stay silent when millions of decent people are tarred with a brush which should be reserved for a very small number.
I have seen these comments publicly and in chats, but we are all guilty if we say nothing.

Post Script: I should add that I fully support @RemainerNow & the initiative... I just can't trust myself to be civil right now, given some of the things I've been exposed to - that's why I take a break from time to time, to restore my equilibrium!

I’ve spent over 3 years fighting to #StopBrexit, but after chatting tonight with Emma, I realise I’ve really been fighting the Tories. Emma is 44, 2 kids, had to move to a council flat due to Bedroom Tax, was moved onto Universal Credit, found work in a cafe & had a heart attack
She told me she voted Leave & that she did so because she didn’t think it was right that she lost her family home because of immigrants. We chatted for 20 minutes & she told me she didn’t really understand the EU.
At the end of the conversation, she said she had only learned about Brexit from Good Morning Britain, but now saw things differently.
We need to talk more.
And to all who’ll tag this as #DHOTYA - yes it did.

As I attended my local #StopTheCoup protest yesterday, I realised that I had carried a deep anger & hatred for the Tories all of my adult life. My first memory which seeded that anger was watching my aunt & uncle sob when my uncle was made redundant from British Steel.

He cried not only for his family, but as a Shop Steward, he felt he'd failed his co-workers. He then joined millions of unemployed & every week would stand in a queue for the Dole Office which went round the block in our Black Country town.

Next, I recall Thatcher flogging off our public services, making billions for profiteers. Although only a teenager, I couldn't understand how it could be right to sell off basic human necessities like water & gas/electricity. How I wish back then we'd told Sid to fuck off...

We are in the midst of a right-wing coup & have been for 3+ years. Getting us to vote on leaving the EU was never about whether our EU membership was good for us or not, it was simply the vehicle for those who wanted to seize absolute power to achieve their nefarious goals.

Since the Referendum, the Gov't has stated that, to do what they want, without scrutiny, they will revert to Henry VIII powers, meaning they can literally ignore or repeal any law passed by Parliament. Far from them respecting democracy, they are quite prepared to ignore it.

The same disregard for Parliamentary Sovereignty will be how Johnson will force through #NoDealBrexit. Every expert, piece of research & even common sense shows this would be extremely damaging for the economy, jobs & our public services not for a few months, but for decades.

Also reporters did report on it. The Sun Times did an epic series, for starters.
And Buzzfeed, Vox, and some of the big music publications did as well. I’ve never known about R Kelly without knowing about the accusations and the mountain of evidence against him.

The problem isn’t that folks didn’t know, it’s that they chose to excuse it.
As so many black women have said over the last few days, you can’t hide behind the historical injustices against black men so that you can victimize black women, or excuse those who do.

For the sake of the good people of Nigeria and the international community who quest for the truth, what the AI "cooked up'' in that report is a figment of its own imagination to further paint Nigeria black among the comity of nations.

Early on Thursday my 2nd daughter was born & she is doing well.

Any of you who are parents will appreciate the feelings of pride & affection I have experienced for the last few days. Many will also appreciate the desire as a father to give your child the best future you can 2/14
My 1st child was born in the build up to the #EUref and turned 3 months of the day of the vote.

As a result of being a new father, being complacent & having never been political before, I didn’t campaign in 2016 apart from sharing many of anti-brexit articles on Facebook! 3/14

Thread - I am 100% on board with calling out @chicagosymphony, @philorch et al. I would also agree with the analysis that the “pipeline” issue is a major contributor to the lack of diversity in orchestral programming.
What I’m concerned that people are missing is 1)That the pipeline begins WAY earlier than I have seen people acknowledge and 2) That we are unlikely to see the kind of systemic change that we need if we take a top-down approach. Both these issues lead us back to the same place.
If women and PoCs are going to even consider entering the pipeline, they need to know that there IS a pipeline well before it’s time for them to apply for conservatory.
