You can’t make this up. I am at the Climate crisis rally to cover the rally with @GretaThunberg, probably the most famous #ActuallyAutistic person, and this dude outside has a sign about vaccines and autism. 
Update. One person in my mentions noticed that the person was most likely a woman. I didn’t look carefully enough. My bad
Ok, caught up with this woman with the anti-vaccine sign. She gave me the same spiel you get from anti-vaxxers. She said autism used to be 1 in 10,000. She said she only had one vaccine growing up. It said vaccines didn't reduce disease. It was quality of living.
Let's be clear about this woman's views. They are wrong and they are dangerous. @SteveSilberman's #NeuroTribes articulated it. Autism used to be seen as a limited form of child psychosis. We now know it's a spectrum. Getting more people diagnosed as autistic is good.
@stevesilberman Also this validates my belief that anti-vaxxers are one of the few places where the Horsehoe theory is real because you get fringe people on both sides for very different reasons. Conservatives hate government mandates. Lefties see it as a Pharma plot
@stevesilberman This is an understated point and the woman with the sign said only used to be one in 10,000 children were autistic but it's grown. This is empirically not true.
@stevesilberman One thing that stuck out to me with Thunberg was she wasn't always at the front of the banner line during the march and when press asked if she could get up front, others said "she's where she wants to be." (I had to leave when my phone was dying).
