1. Ok. @JKCorden and @billmaher now that you have everyone’s attention, could you please perform a very important public service and share the latest science about why people get fat in the first place and then find it so hard to lose weight and keep it off? Stay with me.
2. In 1980, the US gov introduced the first dietary guidelines. They were based on an unproven, and we now know incorrect, hypotheses that dietary fat causes heart disease. Then what happened?
3. The food industry swept in, taking the fat out of everything to make it “healthy”& replaced it with carbohydrates. Those unnatural levels of carbs TRIGGER hunger hormones & make us store fat. They also drive insulin resistance which is why we have obesity & diabetes epidemics.
4. If you are going to judge people @billmaher and explain the nature of the problem @JKCorden, you BOTH should get your facts straight because unless you are sharing the latest science, you are doing harm, despite best intentions.
5. @anahadoconnor sums it up brilliantly here for the lay person. A person with broken metabolism burns an average of 400 more calories a day on a low carb diet while increasing leptin, the satiety hormone! google.com/amp/s/www.nyti…

7. But wait, don’t go yet. The same very low carbohydrate diet that makes weight loss fast, easy and delicious - the Ketogenic diet - is also reversing diabetes. Yes, REVERSING. 94% reduce or eliminate insulin with 55% sustained at 2 years. virtahealth.com/research
8. There are biological mechanisms triggered by the TYPE of food we eat, not just the number of calories in our food, that drive weight gain. For the whole sad, fascinating history of how we got here, read critically acclaimed thebigfatsurprise.com/reviews/ by @bigfatsurprise
9. And for ongoing, independent scientific analysis to sort the fact from the never ending fiction in nutrition science, see @zoeharcombe’s weekly newsletter and website. zoeharcombe.com and watch her here.
10. Thank you.
