Should we count the ways that pro-war argument is misleading?
1. The US doesn’t have to respond to an attack on Saudi Arabia. We have no mutual defense treaty with Saudi Arabia. They’re not a formal ally of the US. This is entirely a matter of discretion, not obligation.
2. Under the constitution, whether we go to war is a matter for Congress to decide, and they can say yes or no. It would likely still be a matter for Congress to decide *even if we did* have an ordinary bilateral defense pact with Saudi, which we don’t.

To my knowledge, there is no congressional authorization for US military retaliation on behalf of Saudi Arabia, no treaty that calls for it, and no reason to think escalating the conflict by having a superpower intervene directly would do anything positive for anyone.
Why isn’t Sen. Coons asking for the intelligence and the decision to be put before Congress, the branch of government with the constitutional responsibility of deciding when we go to war?

1. Many thanks to @Mr0rangetracker for alerting me to a new 'biography' concerning the life of Abu Musa'ab al-Zarqawi that is making the rounds. He let me know about it since it holds a curious anecdote about how al-Zarqawi entered Iraq, a topic that I've been interested in.
2. Less biography, and more a collection of mostly-useless/hagiographic anecdotes, penned by someone calling himself Abu Ja'afar al-Ansari, and dated "Raqqa (~2015)". From what I can deduce, al-Ansari was a 'body man' of al-Zarqawi's; a sometime safehouse keeper; and...
3. Something of a servant/keeper of al-Zarqawi's third wife, the Saudi Wafa al-Yahya (b.1968; died in an airstrike), a university lecturer in Islamic studies, and her three children from her first marriage (...she married al-Zarqawi in 2005, after traveling to Yemen, then Syria).

This is typical #Saudi regime MO. #Saudi Arabia subjects women to a form of gender apartheid that requires all girls and women to have a male guardian that controls almost every aspect of their life. It’s not about “first.”
This same “first woman ambassador” like all #Saudi women has a male guardian. It could be her father, husband, brother and even son. It’s not about “first.”

Because I helped Rahaf, this “news” clip from MBC - 1st Arabic-language 24hr satellite channel (believed to have close ties to #Saudi royals) - says “Mona Eltahawy is a feminist extremist who hates men and wants women to have sex in the streets.”
I have clearly made it. In lieu of an official statement from #Saudi regime, I am taking this as their statement. It is propaganda, defamation & incitement all at once. This is why #Saudi regime poured so much money into Arabic-language media - so that they can use it like this.
In a 2006 journal article, Arab-American academic Marwan M. Kraidy stated that MBC was owned by members of the #Saudi royal family. I am drawing your attention @hrw @amnesty @stephenkalin and those who understand how the Saudi royal family and MBS operate to the above clip.
