The Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), though not widely known is one if the oldest government agencies in Nigeria. The Centre was gazetted as an agency of the Government of Nigeria in August 1960. It has 4 primary objectives:

1. Provide training for the development of citizenship and leadership for public benefit
2. Enhance and expand individual awareness (whatever that means)
3. Inculcate in the individual, qualities of self-discipline, self-reliance and selfless service

4. develop national consciousness and international understanding (international understanding?)
To meet these objectives, CLTC runs leadership training schools across the 6 geopolitical zones. The school’s are designed to teach "resilience, discipline, adaptability and unity."

The schools include a Mountain school at Shere Hills, Jos Plateau State; Sea school, Apapa Lagos; Desert school, Fika, Yobe state; Forest school, Port Harcourt Rivers State; Rockland School, Kotokorshi, Zamfara State; Hilltop school, Agwu, Enugu state. #MDAMonday #policyinsight

CLTC has affiliations with the Man o’ War volunteer corps. It trains and certifies Man o’ War instructors and also embeds staff in Man O’ War commands and facilities.
Fun fact: Man O’ War started in 1951 in Southern Cameroun when it was still part of Nigeria. #MDAMonday #policy
