1/ This paragraph in the Comey IG Report has bothered me for three weeks now. The IG pays particular attention to a blog post made by Lawfare’s Benjamin Wittes. oig.justice.gov/reports/2019/o…

3/ Wittes claims Comey told him about 3 events.

1. 1-22-17 (No memo): Blue Room “hug” at WH group reception
2. 1-27-17 (Memo 2): Trump’s request for loyalty at private dinner
3. 3-1-17 (Memo 5): Non-substantive phone call
4/ The IG Report indicates

1. Comey admitted telling Wittes about Blue Room “hug”
2. Comey denies telling Wittes about 1-27-17 dinner (Memo 2)
3. IG Report silent on 3-1-17 telephone call (Memo 5)
5/5 Notice that Comey doesn’t confirm giving Wittes information about any Memos. Yet info from Memo 2 and Memo 5 appears in Wittes' blog post. How did Wittes get that information? I have a feeling we’ll learn more about this.

In the Comey IG Report, there are two events that we know very little about. The first is the March 1, 2017 memo. We know next to nothing about its content. oig.justice.gov/reports/2019/o…
@DawsonSField 2/ The next event is the March 9, 2017 telephone call between Trump and Comey. We know nothing about the content of the call.
@DawsonSField 3/ Something happened in between those two events. On March 6, 2017, McCabe miraculously learned that the "White House" wanted to fire Comey because Comey wouldn't fire McCabe.

WHAT'S AN FBI 1023?

In his recent list of 10 declassified Russia-related item that could rock Washington, John Solomon starts his list with FBI Form 1023s thehill.com/opinion/campai…
Evidently, a 1023 is similar to FBI Form 302, but the 1023 describes interactions with a CHS instead of a witnesse. The way Solomon describes it, a 1023 may indicate two-way sharing of information. Solomon suggests that the FBI may have told Steele about CH information.
In December 2017, Trey Gowdy emphasized that Congress needed to view some 1023s, presumably Steele 1023s. Gowdy seems to suggest that the 1023s may possibly implicate James Baker (former FBI General Counsel), Peter Strzok, or Lisa Page.

@Joestradamus91 @Shem_Infinite Now follow along ... on March 14, 2016, U.S. Person 2 (Byrne?) received an email from Butina saying that a Russian official (Torshin) expressed approval for building some sort of "communication channel".

"We found no evidence that Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the Memos to members of the media" (Page 2)

Since this is the key phrase @Comey has latched onto, I'll explain
—Comey leaked the contents of a CLASSIFIED memo to his attorneys (his dinner with Trump; Memo 2 in the IG report)

—One of those attorneys (Richman) then leaked the contents of this memo to the NYT...but supposedly *not the classified portions*

First: this is a point I often make and it largely goes ignored. A lot of times you see amazing FOIA groups such as Judicial Watch staying that “Trumps DOJ” is stonewalling the release of documents. It’s always wise to consider reasons. As IG states here, memos withheld (cont)
because of ongoing criminal investigation. Please put this in perspective as we move along and docs are withheld.

Comey made the claim in his rebuttal tweet that he didn't do anything wrong.

He leaked classified info, "CONFIDENTIAL" level but still classified. See attachment.
They also have him for mishandling GOV documents, motr of a policy thing but still a violation. As I said from the beginning it was work product written on Gov Laptop about a one on one convo with the POTUS, that a problem.

The DOJ #OIG posted a list of various audit and review recommendations that weren’t closed yet, as of March 31/2019.

The report states that “not closed” simply means that a recommendation hasn’t been fully implemented yet by the applicable department.

The FBI develop guidelines to identify risks of & alternatives to letting witnesses attend voluntary interviews of other witnesses, such as attorneys who are also witnesses.
