STEM is increasingly a marketing wedge used by the weapons industry to condition and normalize war for children
Lockheed Martin is skipping the middleman and has recently begun opening a network of “STEM” preschools in Israel haaretz.com/israel-news/.p…
as you may recall it often has a girl power spin. But the goal of STEM-washing is the same: boost the brand by looking like an education company that just happens to sell bombs to Saudi Arabia they just happen to use to eviscerate Yemeni school buses.
It’s general brand-building of course but STEM-washing in schools has the secondary purpose of (1) normalizing weaponsmakers as feminist pro-science forces of social good (2) conditioning the next generation of voters & lawmakers to view bombing & occupation as normal and healthy
weapons makers have all but taken over extracurricular STEM in UK schools

"One company deployed a high-profile children’s television presenter to promote its activities in a school, while another developed a missile simulator for pupils to 'play with'"
