I asked Singh if he would abolish the Indian Act if elected. He says it would need a complete overhaul and he would replace it with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People #cdnpoli #elxn43
I also asked Singh if he could clarify how the decriminalization or legalization of drugs would look under an NDP government. Singh says Portugal but then mostly seems to focus on taking possession out of the criminal justice system #cdnpoli #elxn43

Trudeau has recently proposed significant legal changes - buried in an omnibus budget bill - which would prevent people from making refugee claims in Canada if they had already made one in certain other countries. This is a big deal.

Simultaneously, new federal Border Security Minister is trying to lobby U.S. to renegotiate Safe Third Country Agreement to apply to the entire US-Canada border so that anyone coming through US (with minor exceptions) to make a refugee claim would be deported instantly.
Taken together, these two changes would undoubtedly shut the door on thousands of refugees attempting to arrive to these lands, and is a far cry from Trudeau's performative "we welcome refugees" tweet just a few years ago.

First, while overall we see only marginal national changes in the vote, there are significant regional changes. The most significant in terms of seats are Liberals up in Quebec but down in BC and the Atlantic. Also down in AB but few seats at risk. Marginally down in Ontario.
Second, @justintrudeau has seen negatives grow and favs drop. While Trudeau still leads Scheer on best PM by 8 points. On traits, Trudeau is down:
•-9 points on strong leader and competent,
•-6 points on cares about people like me,
•-4 points on stand up for middle class.

2/ There are thousands of refugees here on Lesbos. Mostly from Afghanistan.

Camp I visited, near village of Moria, is one mess. Small tents, garbage, dirt, hardly any organization.

Inhabitants call it "The Jungle".

Reminds me of camps I saw in Syria. However, Lesbos is in EU.
3/ Moria camp on Lesbos is an official camp.

It has a fence for security. Few thousand refugees live inside. Some stay in containers; others in tents.

Good thing about this camp is that the floor of the tents is concrete, which protects in case of rain.

One of the problems with election coverage as it stands is that no one has any idea what it means to succeed at it. Predicting the winner? Is that success? Even if journalists could do that —and they can’t — it would not be much of a public service, would it? 2/
A very weird thing about horse race or “game” coverage is that it doesn’t answer to any identifiable need of the voter. Should I vote for the candidate with the best strategy for capturing my vote? Do I walk into the voting booth clutching a list of who’s ahead in the polls? 3/
