THREAD) Yesterday, @GretaThunberg told the US Congress to "listen to the scientists".

Hopefully, they will. There are many ways to hear from scientists. Reports, briefings, phone calls, etc.

Or, sometimes, following climate scientists on Twitter.

2/ Helpfully, @KHayhoe created a list of ~2,500 scientists who do climate on Twitter:

Currently, 74 of the 539 Members of the US Congress use their Twitter account to follow at least one of these scientists.

3/ This can plausibly be seen as one sign that these members of Congress (or at least their staffs) are interested in climate science.

Of these 74, there are:

1 Republican Senator

61 Democratic Representatives
2 Republican Representatives

@GretaThunberg P.S. If anyone is curious how these stats have changed over time, when I first ran this analysis last May, there were only 47 Members of Congress following any climate scientist.
