PEPTIC ULCER DISEASE(PUD)
Guys today let's talk about PUD commonly known as ulcers... I know this condition has been affecting people of all ages.. youth & adults.
Read through the thread below, check where you've been going wrong & correct it.

PUD(ulcers)
*specifically xtised by epigastric pain. (Pain located on the intersection btn your chest & the abdomen.)
*pain is xtised by a burning sensation & after meals.
*it has two types;
-#Gastric & #duodenal.

Gastric ulcers -burning sensation shortly after meals.
Duodenal - 2_3 hrs after food.
CAUSES OF ULCERS.
1.H.pylori infection-bacterial
2.Drugs-NSAIDS -Diclofenac,aspirin,piroxicam etc.
3.life style factor - diet (eating too much spices, alcohol,smoking etc)

4 . severe physiological stress- incase you have chronic diseases.
5.Hyper secretory states (rare)
6. Genetic factors (familial)

Signs & symptoms of pud.
× epigastric pain
× belching (gas accumulation in the stomach )
× heart burn
× sharp abdominal pain.
× unexplained wt loss

Signs & symptoms of complicated ulcers.
* vomiting blood
*early satiety
*sharp abdominal pain
*recurrent vomiting
*progressive difficult in swallowing & painful swallowing (dysphagia & odynophagia resp)
*anaemia.
*occult blood (blood on stool)

Most cases of ulcers are due to ;
*H.pylori infection, bacteria which can be got by eating food contaminated with it...erodes the gastric mucosa...
*Nsaids... drugs mentioned above.

Tests done to diagnose PUD.
H.pylori. .In blood.
Urease tests... dxtic test of choice.

H.pylori antigen in faecal matter.

*Most patients with PUD are treated successfully with cure of H.pylori & avoidance of NSAIDs along with antisecretory therapy... DM for this.
LIFE STYLE FACTORS;
tobacco use
Alcoholism
Caffeine (coffee, tea,cokes)
Aspirin

For treatment like I told you its about patient & doctor patnership.... it can be cured.
DM for drugs... & dosage😂

Prevention of NSAID ulcers.
*Avoid unnecessary use of NSAIDs.
*use acetaminophen or non acetylated salicylate if possible.
Use Gastro-protective NSAIDS.

Complications of PUD.
*gastric perforation
*anaemia
*gastric cancer
