i'd be in a bad mood too if i were in his shoes. his lawyer wants nothing to do with him, he had to sell his guns to pay the bills, he's too broke to even file for bankruptcy, and a man who has a lot of dirt on him is in federal custody.
it must really get under his skin that a depressed lesbian is so effectively exposing him for the piece of shit that he is and he can’t even afford to hire someone to murder me

You voted! I found a bar! So tonight, we’re reading Michael Wolff’s Seige: Trump Under Fire which promises to teach us very little but from which we can learn a lot!

Let’s very briefly explain that and then I’ll start the intro
So, the first thing to know about this book is that all of its sources are known liars. Steve Bannon features prominently. The staffers that were allowed to remain anonymous still worked in this White House, and that tells you about their respect for reality versus spin.
Second thing is that Wolff isn’t particularly well known for his unrelenting sourcing and meticulous retellings. Mostly he’s the most accessy of access journos, by which I mean usually you don’t get invited to see the sausage being made if they don’t want or need you to.

Midoriya Izuku was used to being arrested, whether by foreign governments or local police. He'd been caught by gangs and cartels for being too close to their operations and messing up. He'd been roughed up, sent home with a warning, and just to go right back to get his story.
What he wasn't used to was dragging others into his messes. He worked alone for that reason. That way if he ever got in too deep or messed with the wrong person, it would just be him not going home.

Having finished The Authoritarians, it's time to start a new thread of #IanLivetweetsHisResearch. Today I am finally getting past the introduction of How Propaganda Works by Jason Stanley.
Having slogged through some proper academic writing in my day, Stanley's writing is blessedly accessible. But after Altemeyer's light tone and constant dad jokes, Stanley's reads as pretty dry.
So far the introduction is full of a lot of quotations about the nature of democracy, from Victor Klemperer to Elizabeth Anderson to Plato. OF COURSE Plato.
