1/ For anyone curious about my thoughts re: Carson King. I think he said some stupid racist stuff when he was 16. It seems he has no history of that in 7 years since. His apology seems sincere (unlike Shane Gillis's whose racism is recent). I think he's probably a good guy...
2/ What bothers me most about this whole episode though is how easy it is for a young white guy to get money sent to his Venmo for beer. Seriously? Folks who wouldn't give $1 for civil rights or to a homeless person but will give shitloads of it so dude can drink more?...
3/ And honestly (this is to all the right wingers defending him solely bc it allows them to lash out at antiracism more broadly), if the guy w/ the 'Venmo me some beer money' sign had been black, how many people ya think would have sent it to him? And how many of YOU would have?
4/ No, y'all woulda said, "That guy prolly took some more qualified white person's slot and look, he just wants to drink w/other people's money. Freeloader!" So cut the self righteous shit about how u 'stand' w/Carson. If he were Calvin Jefferson u wouldn't be standing w/shit..

1/ As I mentioned yesterday, I thought it might be helpful to reply to one of the main arguments used by conservatives (and sometimes those who aren't that far right but fall for their nonsense), in their effort to "debunk" the idea that racism is still a serious problem...
2/ Namely, the argument that "Asian American success" proves racism can't be a significant barrier to achievement, and thus, if blacks still lag behind whites in income, education, employment, etc, it must be due to their own cultural or behavioral norms...
3/ Yesterday, I dealt with the black "cultural pathology" nonsense in a separate thread, and by re-posting a couple of longer essays that deal with it. Today, I'll address the Asian American (hereafter APA for Asian Pacific American) model minority stuff…

the fact he went to Harvard Law and still doesn't understand how the law works is stunning. Bribery does not require explicit quid pro quo. And asking Ukraine 4 help is campaign finance violation as well. Cover up (hiding transcript) demos consciousness of guilt
By Ben's logic, Nixon did nothing wrong when trying to bury the tapes because they were eventually released...Harvard should ask for its law degree back...

2/ As of 2016 (this won't have changed much since), only 1.2 million families in the U.S. have a family member who receives TANF (AFDC) and for over half of these, only a child or children are receiving benefits, w/no additional allotment for parent or parents in the home...
3/ In all, only 2.7 million persons are receiving TANF benefits (about 0.8 percent of the population), over three-quarters of whom are kids. Only around 637,000 adults in the entire United States receive cash welfare benefits...

#History/#Art thread – From my recent trip to Madurai/Tirunelveli. On Jain sites (some with a rich history dating back to at least the 3rd cent. BCE), early Pandyan rock-cut cave temples (7th-8th cent. CE) & the amazing Vettuvan koil.

Before I start on the places, the history around all this is fascinating & splits opinion. Is it apt to call the script Tamili/Tamil Brahmi? Did it develop independently in the Tamil country/come with the Jain monks from the north? Were 8,000 Jains actually impaled in Madurai?>

Simple way to say, human #History is millions of years old, and measured in the manner of Chaturyuga (4 main yugas/cycles). In due time, the Races of mankind (and/or, genetic make-up) gets diluted, lost, assembled/reassembled, out-mixing (w/other species), unregulated mixing,

It is told to Parliament that total amount collected under the IDS shall be firmed up only after the last date of installment, 30.09.2017
See press release on next day (1/10/16) after the last day (30/9/2016) of the IDS-2016 where Rs.65250 Crore undeclared income disclosed
