The whistle-blower anticipated the potential public release of this document and carefully wrote it to exclude any classified info (which was included in a separate appendix) so that it could be released.

Facebook's upcoming "news" tab sounds like an absolute train wreck

"Facebook will highlight only publishers that rated above a certain level of trustworthiness in surveys the company conducted...last year."

This is from a company that has DAILY CALLER do its fact checking
The page, which Facebook says will be limited to trustworthy outlets, may include BREITBART

The company is including Breitbart, which has laundered white nationalist talking points, to avoid claims of conservative bias

1. The "Police Lives Matter" Facebook page accumulated 170K fans

The page purported to be run by U.S. police officers, with cops posting about the "first dayshift of my career with a K9"

It was actually run from Kosovo

For example, on August 19, 2019, the page claimed that Deputy Farrah Turner had just died from gunshot wounds

Turner actually died 10 months earlier, in October 2018

3. "Police Lives Matter" was part of a network of Facebook pages run from Kosovo that sought to exploit the right-wing backlash against the Black Lives Matter movement w/names like "I Support The Police US not Criminals"

It included pro-Trump memes.

Here is the number-two House Republican not only ignoring the real story, but literally _making up_ a lie to try to shift focus away from @realDonaldTrump's misconduct. The complaint was _dated_ August 12; that's _not_ when @RepAdamSchiff "knew about it."

So. Much. Bad. Faith.

Warning: I don’t actually know the answer to this question, so this thread will be highly speculative.

Start with @RepAdamSchiff’s letter, below, and we’ll go from there:

Someone within DNI blew the whistle on something...something very bad. As @SethAbramson pointed out, the timing lines up with the departure from DNI of Sue Gordon (who was in line to be acting DNI, but resigned instead). Timing also lines up with Coats’s departure as DNI, btw.
If the whistleblower is Gordon/Coats, it would mean someone who knows everything about the counterintelligence investigation into Trump is ready to come forward.

So here’s where the speculation starts: I think Trump booted Coats and Gordon to allow him to shut down the CI.

This #thread from @K8brannen is _deeply_ alarming. Under 50 U.S.C. § 3033(k)(5)(C), the Acting DNI is _required_ to transmit details on such "urgent complaints" to the congressional intelligence committees w/in 7 days. Acting DNI Maguire hasn't done so, and hasn't explained why.
@K8brannen Schiff: "So far as the Committee is aware, this marks the first time a Director of National Intelligence has ever sought to overrule the IC IG and conceal from Congress a whistleblower complaint—in this case, one the IC IG has already determined to be a credible urgent concern."
