Earlier on Friday, 500k people joined the #ClimateStrike in #Montreal. I was proud to be among those numbers. Gina Granter took four of her five daughters to the march and brought the youngest one, Mathilde, to my reading. Our youngest feminist there

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the Canadian representative office in Taipei confirmed Tuesday that a Canadian warship recently sailed through the Taiwan Strait, a rare passage by a non-American military vessel.
The MND did not provide any additional information on the transit through the waterway that separates Taiwan and China, except to say that Taiwan's military was fully aware of the situation and that it was done under Canada's freedom of navigation.

Intersections are where most of the conflicts happen between people on bikes and people driving cars. Naturally it makes sense then to put the bike markings in the intersections and in front of driveways to notify drivers to expect to see bikes. #Montreal
But of course bike stencils aren't nearly enough, you need a network protected bike lanes. Here is an example of planted medians separating bikes from cars which are far more beautiful and safer than flex posts.
I've been questioned by a fair amount of people over the years on how pedestrians are supposed to walk across a protected bike lane. Here's a good example - raise the bike lane to curb level, paint a x-walk

I have conflicted feelings about the #Canadian #DDAY commemorations that took place over the last few days, and I struggle during #RemembranceDay because of increasing glorification of war, militarization, and platitudes about honour, duty, and sacrifice. /1
My family has a long history of military service in both World Wars. My great-uncle joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, fought at Gallipolli, and died at Beaumont-Hamel. My great-grandfather also enlisted in the RNR and survived the Great War except for a missing finger. /2
My paternal grandfather was a member of the Canadian militia in the interwar years, was a Major during WW2 and remained in Canada throughout the war at Shilo, MB and other bases where he was involved in training enlisted men headed overseas. /3
