Thinking an awful lot about how fragile we are, not only as individuals, but our social relationships, and larger now, our political institutions that we use to address & solve problems.
And life things, and death things. And wondering if we are dying.

Even,to sully the thought/feeling w the contemporary nonsense, even if we manage to escape the dark energy of Trump, something has been released, not only in America, but world wide, I am not sure we have the wisdom, ability, or even insight how to get through sans deep troubles.
What we are learning, anew, is there are ways we are incredibly strong. The human values and systems we have gotten to support and manifest these values: "to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves & our posterity"... These are insurmountable, when well defended & lived.
Which is to also say, when they are not, when our core values of free speech, civil society, public service for the commonweal, not ones self &/or tribal political affiliations and power lusts, are not part of our daily lived experience, they crumble & fall with surprising speed.
Like all things that are deep and complicated and complex, it is a multi-layered thing that must be understood in the complex of these facets in order to be useful.
In the end...it is how Fragile We Are.

Others have said the same thing differently...for ex
>the price of liberty is constant vigilance.
>the worn out creeds of the past are insufficient to the troubled present. We must disenthrall ourselves...then we shall save our country
