Time for a pulp countdown now, and as it's #WorldAnimalDay I'm counting down my top 10 animals in horror novels! #FridayFeeling
At no 10: cats! Pretty evil in general, but can be easily defeated with a laser pointer.
At no 9: wasps! They only attack you if you're standing near a jam sandwich, but who doesn't nowadays? Best to take care.
At no 8: piranhas! If horror books have taught us one thing it's that piranhas can swim up the toilet u-bend and bite your old chap! That's why men always leave the seat up - so we can check before we go!
At no 7: locusts! Biblical psychopathic grasshoppers that can strip a man to his bones in less than fifteen seconds - plus the endless chirping sounds!
At no 6: worms! If you cut them in half then both ends attack! They will stop at nothing for our blood.
At no 5: rats! They say you're never more than three bookshops away from a rat horror story. Plague, pestilence and death in furry form.
At no 4: it's a tie between slugs and maggots! Both can eat your brains out by climbing up your nose. Only saline nasal drops can save you.
At no 3: spiders! Huge, evil, hairy and terror-inducing. But that's enough about William Shatner...
At no 2: crabs! Murderous side-scuttling sociopaths that prey on human weakness. And they have swords. Bad, bad crab.
And at no 1: squirrels! Angry, homicidal tree rats with murder on their mind. Literally nutcases.

More pulp countdowns another time... #FridayFeeling
